I usually try to get in the betas for most MMO's even if I don't intend to play them, just to get a feel for them and an overall feel for where the industry is heading. Anyone who has played a couple MMO's can tell you that their general/global chat is the worst out of all the varieties of games that have large chat channels. The best MMO general chat is a filthy cesspit of depravity, bigotry and sexism at the best of times in comparison to pretty much any other variety of community at the worst of times. I generally can ignore the worst of it. Tonight I blocked all of the global chat channels in Archeage in less than 5 minutes. I haven't blocked anyone except for spammers in Eve, and no one on the forums. Thanks Eve community for keeping it classy. Wait, CCP kills kittens now too?!-á - Freyya Are you a forum alt? As for in-game chats, yeah, I can see that. It probably has something to do with the very broad meta in Eve. There's plenty of things to pick at and smack about in local, without having to resort to the more ridiculous stuff that we see in most other MMOs. Either that, or you're just in the wrong chat channels.

I mean before I joined EVE a long time ago buddy of mine dragged me into a super-generic F2P CS clone MMO. Since I didn't want to install it in my home computer we played on computer shops. Jesus christ I could see rows and rows of kids not older than 8 playing the game and cussing so much on VoIP and the ingame chat that it made Cyrus Miele sound like Mother Theresa. Ingame they're like this: Yang Headshots noob Noob chat: FU noob stabs yang Noob chat: FU Ad infinitum. Like seriously any thing you do to interact with them will net you a cuss. Even if you're just joining a game lobby. After a few matches I told my buddy it's not for me. The community was simply too toxic and perhaps not to sound elitist, a giant pile of turd that the poor unwashed masses of our country play because it was free.

GreenSeed 1142	Posted - 2014.08.23 01:19:00 - [8] - Quote if you block the spam, Jita chat is fine, its usually just people dueling. not really interesting, but not painful either. other Hubs have actual regulars chatting and its often interesting. the only local chat i hate is the highsec war chat. i usually just block, and im done with it. the problem is when im not involved in the war, so you get to hear the aggressor talking nonsense, and the defenders being even more idiotic.

TEST local in innia was the absolute worst thing ever for both sides. At least they mellowed out after a few weeks. They still do it for chest beating purposes.

It's a matter of who's online where. When Eve gets rank it's pretty disgusting, and I've seen that in ESO a couple of times too. EDIT: The worst of ESO was the free play month after launch.
