People go on and on about their stats and roles and stuff like that, so Im just curious if there is any official stats somewhere?
I'd hate to base my opinion on rumours and 'leaked' information.
Oh and if its in a dev blog somehwere and I just havent seen it I will promise to smack my head into my monitor for the hassle.

Aren't Caldari supposed to be the missile users? The reason why so many of their ships have lots of launcher slots and missile bonuses?
Why would they completely change weapon type like that for the T3?

No, the top tier ships of caldari are always railships
thats one reason the caldari BS once had a hybdrid range bonus

I think some dev said once that Abaddon (Amarr tier 3 bs) is going to have 7 turret hislots besides the fact it has 8 very visible mounts on both sides of it. ________________________________________________ My signature exploded :/ |

I guess I was just going on all the ship descriptions you read that make reference to missile use as being a very Caldari trait, and how, besides those two ships, it seems like every single Caldari ship has much more launcher slots than turret.

I know there was something in latest E-On or the one prior to that about the Amarr one as well as confirming (once again) that the Caldari one was going to be a railgun ship.

Going by that logic, the Raven isn't a missile dedicated ship, the Apoc is not a typical turret ship, and the Scorpion's role is split between a heavy damage dealer and an ECM boat.
You look on the bonuses and functionality of the ships. The Merlin might not function extremely well without complementary missiles, but the Moa is a very, very, clear turret ship. Dark skies torn apart Heavens open before me I, the light of death |

Stop trolling. "Rail ship" doesn't mean "only has turret hardpoints and bonuses to railguns", much like "Missile ship" doesn't mean "only has missile hardpoints and bonuses to missiles".
If a Caldari ship has hybrid bonuses it's a railgun ship, and if it has missile bonuses it's a missile ship. If it has both then it is whichever weapon system has the most hardpoints.
On a slightly related matter, it still saddens me when people are shocked when they see the Caldari Tier3 BS is going to be a turret ship. Here's some Schooling:
ECM: Griffen -> Blackbird/Rook/Falcon -> Scorp Missiles: Kestrel/Condor/Hawk/Crow/Manticore -> Caracal/Cerberus -> Tier2 BC/Nighthawk -> Raven -> Phoenix Rails: Merlin/Harpy/Raptor -> Moa/Eagle -> Ferox/Vulture -> Tier3 BS
Probably missed a couple of ships, but you get the idea.

The point is that Caldari do not have ships which use entirely turrets to fill their high slots. There is always a split between missle and turret hardpoints. This can clearly be seen in the Merlin and Moa which HippoKing pointed to. I have no problem with a 6 turret/4 missle Caldari Tier3 bs with 5% shield resists and 10% optimal range since that would follow the pattern of the Merlin and Moa. However, a Tier3 Caldari bs with 8 turrets does not follow the Caldari tradition.
You can define "rail ship" however you want but that doesn't change the fact that both the Merlin and the Moa have high slots which are split between missles and turrets. Also, following your logic, the 6/4 ship would be a "rail ship" so everyone should be happy.

If it had that slot layout it would be a worthless ship as a megathron can fit more guns.

Virtually no ship in EVE can fill all it's highslots with it's primary weapon type.

I haven't even been playing a month and I can tell you that is way off. Tons of ships can fit all their highs with their primary.

Thats true, but it doesn't change anything about the progression of Merlin->Moa->Tier3 that people are using.

That's because it is the correct progression. Look at minmatar ships - they practically all have all but 1-2 highs for turrets and the other 1-2 for launchers but they are still classed as turret ships with missiles as secondary weapons.

Except the Tempest is 6/4.
There is no reason that the Tier3 bs have to follow the frigate->cruiser progression, so Caldari can certainly have their 8 turret bs if the devs see fit. But arguing that they deserve an 8 turret bs because the Merlin and Moa use turrets is simply wrong. The progression from Merlin to Moa would result in a split rail/missle hardpoint Tier3 since both the Merlin and Moa have split rail/missle hardpoints.

Who the hell said it was going to get 8 turrets? The Abaddon was mentioned once in this thread which is the Amarr tier 3 battleship...
Dispite everyone's best efforts you still don't understand that when they call a ship a "rail ship" or "missile ship" it doesn't mean that it has 100% of it's highslots devoted to that weapon system. It means that is has bonuses for that weapon system.

That does make sense though unless they're going to base it off the augorer with a massive tank and armor bonus. It would probably be tracking disruptor bonus instead of a resist bonus though.
