I just got an evemail storyline offer for a courier mission to .03 space with a 23k ISK pay-out. Even if I do this in a shuttle to spare my ship (Gee, then I'll net about 14K ISK), I run the risk of being ganked and losing my implants (just +1's, but at my noob stage they're useful) for little profit. Yeah, I know: No guts, no glory. This is a new storyline agent and if I reject the offer, I suspect he'll no longer offer me missions, but I think the same thing will happen, if I ignore his evemail and let the offer expire. Is this true? When I first started EVE (a month ago), I did this same mission with my first char (in a Bantam), but into .4 space. I had absolutely no problem. Since then, I've become a bit more paranoid.

What you'll want to do is build some instas for those low sec systems you have to travel through. From gate-to-gate and gate-to-station.
In addition, if the cargo is small enough to fit inside a Kestrel for 1-2 trips then I suggest doing so.
If you're unsure about the safety of a system then go get a shuttle and scout it. Shuttles and pods are the fastest vehicles to get into warp, so if you see any unknown around where you at then warp out immediately.
...and yes, we do sell and deliver ammo. 425 Express Delivery is available upon request, please see Hans Gates and Marcus Grisbius regarding this option. |

You aren't paranoid if someone really is out to get you. :)
Check the map with overview set to show the number of ships destroyed in the last hour. If it isn't orange and glowy go for it. Getting into a system isn't hard. Getting back out can be if someone is sniping from outside the range of the sentry guns. If no one is there when you warp in it is a good time to make an insta on the way out. A good insta out of a low sec system is always worth having. Good luck.

get condor with a mwd or ab and nanofibers in the lows, should be pretty fast.
Check the map for no. of players in space Check the map for ship kill and pod kills Make\Buy instas if you can run the route without cargo or with an alt
dont reject it, storyline are good for standings increases

I got a storyline into 0.3 a couple of days ago -- went without incident -- didn't see anybody at all.

"insta" is the short hand form of "Insta-Jump Bookmark". Basically allows you to warp to a bookmark that will place you right on top of a jump gate (within jump range), bypassing the 15 km you normally would have to travel to get into jump range.
Check around on the forums, there are numerous posts that go into detail of how instas work and how to create them.

It's a bookmark created so as to enable you to bypass the "last 15km" to a gate or station, thereby speeding up your travel or keeping you out of harm's way.

The big issue is the standing loss if you fail it, not the 9k ISK for a shuttle.
There is a 99% chance that you will not be bothered in any way.

Does "ships destroyed in the last hour" in the map refer to all ship destroyed (including NPC rats) or just to player-piloted ships?

I dont know.
Quote: There's been ships destroyed in the target system and another low-sec system I would have to traverse w/i the last hour....and several pod kills in the latter system w/i the last 24 hours.
Pod kills are a clear indication of players fighting.
Quote: How important is the "standing," I get from storyline missions?
Standing determines if you can do level 2 (or 3 or 4) missions. However for level 2 missions, the Connections skill can boost your standing high enough.
Gate sniping really isnt so much of an issue... Sure, there *could* be a sniper, but probably there isnt. I've been sniped twice in my EVE career and i've travelled my fair share of lowsec.
There are however some wildly dangerous lowsec systems - or so it is told...

...
Did I damage this char by not having him do the initial agent missions after the tutorial (a stupid oversight on my part)? I've got social 2 (haven't trained connections yet because I don't want to put the time into social 3 atm). I've got several available L2 agents, however, I'm only using Caldari Navy ones atm.
Another issue I'm having is getting implant offers from agents. I've got a corporate L1 agent with 1530 LP. She made some crap offer, which I rejected. I then did another mission for her.....and have been waiting two days for another offer (hopefully of an implant).....but she's silent. I've read here how the LP/offer system works, but so far it's not working for me.

Show Ships destroyed applies only to Player Ships.
There is another button marked Faction and Police, that shows NPC deaths.
