Great idea. Already using it.
James Amril-Kesh wrote:Steve what you really should have done is leave the site up for submissions only for a time, and then close the submissions and only then allow voting.
With your current system you have the earlier submissions collecting more votes than new ones, which has the effect of making newer, would-be popular ideas seem not as good as they are, and newer, crappy ideas seem better than they are.
IMO you should close voting right now and reset everything to 0 upvotes and downvotes, then after say two weeks of submissions you close that down and open up the voting again.
Or perhaps include a vote/month metric of some kind to go along with the total. - Mission Overhaul - Bridging the PVP / PVE Gap - -áIf the game stops teaching people to fear lowsec, maybe people will start going there? |

This is completely different than the 'Things Initiative' that I have implemented.
Mine is more of a 'Can I have your things/stuff?' initiative. Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings? |

Feature Request:
Ability to remove previously placed votes instead of downvoting.

Stevie's solution to the job as Important Spaceship Politician?
Use a database.
Who would have guessed? ;)
Good job by the way.
CCP Greyscale: As to starbases, we agree it's pretty terrible, but we don't want to delay the entire release just for this one factor.

So... it's yet another "little things" list that will never get done just as all others before? Seriously asking WTF we need another place to put/vote for ideas that will share fate of previous initiatives of this nature. Invalid signature format |

There's the most succinct description of Eve I think I've ever read.

I cannot help but suspect Fuzzworks is built upon Zend Framework, version two if I'd have to guess. I've been meaning to ask for a while now if that is correct. |

Bzzt! Wrong
For display stuff I've retrofitted the old stuff, and started off with bootstrap with the new stuff.
I've started using smarty to handle templating but the rest is just hand written PHP

Well you had me fooled, apart from Things the site looks like Zend's skeleton app. I'll have a look at your code, I was curious as to how you did the submenu items when in "small window" mode. I'd like to do a similar thing with a Zend application at work. |

Shouldn't the CSM just use these forums to judge what people want?
Why should I have to go to your website and fill out something in order for my voice to be heard?
This seems unsafe and it makes you look like you are too lazy to read through the Features and Ideas forum. Not today spaghetti. |

We do keep an eye on the forums. However, this consolidates things down into an easy to search version, with a way for players to indicate if they like or dislike something. The dislike is the thing for forums don't do so well.
It also give Devs a change to flick through ideas quickly, when they're looking for something to do, to fill a small gap in the development cycle.
Oh, and unsafe? Using CCP's own SSO, where you give your username and password /only/ to CCP, and they tell me which character you selected, and nothing more? (other than a hash to let me know when a character has changed hands. I can't link characters and accounts) Woo! CSM 9! http://fuzzwork.enterprises/ Twitter: @fuzzysteve on Twitter |

Steve, thank you immensely for creating this. I have thought for a while now that it's quite absurd that the devs don't have a way to better consolidate all the opinions that players are attempting to present to them. This will surely assist in that.
One thing I have noticed is that I don't seem able to "unvote" an item. Only can adjust the vote as +1 or -1. |

Steve, if devs cannot be bothered to read their own F&I forums in search for ideas (and there are multiple good and great ones already there) what's the point of posting them anywhere else. Because voting/likes system sucks on Eve forums? Yes it does but for me it only means one thing: CCP doesn't care about number of thumbs up/down next to OUR ideas, they do their own things and sometimes some of them just happen to be in line of somebody's suggestion.
There are multiple little things list on Eve forums already, in missions subforum, in F&I dedicated threads, in science I think there is also sth like this. People post ideas in CSM subforums too. And what? They all sooner or later die alone. But hey, at least we got more and more deployables \o/
I lost my drive to suggest or expect anything from CCP. I just look at every incoming "expansion"/release and hope to find at least a few things that I like or have interest in. Why do I keep paying my subs then? Well, it's still better than online casinos or crack. Invalid signature format |
