Hi there,
just a question if the trade is legal, because I found not many topics about it and the search site is still down with a funny message. And where can I find trustworthy offers? Bought yesterday gate to gate bookmarks on Escrow market and got only 89 bookmarks for the same place so in principle I got scammed.
Any advises? ---------------------- This place is for rent |

escrow scams are basically allowed.
always check what you are buying on escrow (inspect goods). If you are unsure about it, dont buy it.
selling BMs via escrow is perfectly allowed. but there is no way to verify if the BMs are legit short of actually warping to them.. and there is no recourse to get your money back if you bought dud BMs.
in short - escrow system is crap, and lots of scams go on there - buyer beware.

Not that i know of :(
Basically if the person has a lot of other high-value escrowss active (ie, check that they are active and indeed have the stuff there) then there is a good chance that they are trying to be above the board.
<shrug> dont use escrow myself much, unless its for BPC andother things that i can check BEFORE i buy...

Only buy bookmarks from sellers with references. There is also a sticky covering the correct amount of BM's for each region, any less than that is bound to be incomplete/a scam.

How do you actually sell the bookmarks? I have over 100 instas set up around Heimatar and Metropolis from trading goods.
Might as well put some up for sale and earn some reputation over time.

Edited by: Korobarr on 25/07/2006 18:24:08 Here is a link to a good post on Bookmarks - including how many each region should have if complete
Yes, you were scammed - that is what most scammers do, put a small number <100 in the escrow. Ive never seen someone put several hundred bogus ones up as the time it takes to do that is equal to doing it honestly.
Easiest way to not get scammed on BM's 1) Deal with reputable vendor referenced by friends / corp mates 2) ALWAYS examine the escrow before claiming. You can extend the length of the window to full screen showing 40 or more at a time and quickly page down to get a count. 3) Check the sellers' bio. Reputable sellers tend to have info about them/their service.
I include the above link in the bio of another character I use to sell BMs (not mentioning name as I am not soliciting business), so customers will know how many should be included in a full set.
