Like the subject says. Is it possible to do missions for different corps and in turn get positive standings with all factions?
I'm thinking you have to only do missions for factions with higher "liked by"-values than "disliked by"-values like SOE.
I know how to get positive standings with Angels, Thukker, Minmatar and Gallente at the same time. The puzzle is just too big for me to find out wether it's possible to get all standings positive.

courier missions but this would require u to get access to every single NPC (Including angels intaki serpentis ORe blood riaders sanshas guirstas etc) in the 0.0 areas - you could try this on SISI but yeah requies u not to shoot any NPCs either (and courier missions are the go ) advisory manufacturing etc.

Well if I do courier missions and raise my standings with Angel Cartel with say +1%, won't I get negative derived standings with the enemies of Angel Cartel.
And since Angel Cartel has more friends than enemies, won't doing missions for Angel Cartel turn out to give more negative standings than positive?

Gaining standing with Angels will make you lose standings with Concord / Gallente / Caldari / etc. The reason for the standing loss with those corps is something with standing increase with enemies of bla bla bla...

For every faction standing gain you do suffer an opposing faction standing loss, but the amount of the loss is less than the value of the gain.
For example, if you get a +10% standing gain with faction A, you may receive a -5% standing loss to faction B. After this your standings will be something like:
Faction A: 1.00 Faction B: -0.5
If you then do missions for faction B and eventually get a +10% standing gain with that faction (and associated -5% standing hit to faction A), your standings will be:
Faction A: 0.55 Faction B: 0.55
The faction standing gains and losses will offset themselves. It will take longer to reach the higher faction standings with all sides, but it is achievable.
With factions with many enemies, you just need to be very careful about how you balance up the faction standing changes. It is quite easy to balance off say, Caldari against Gallente, but can be quite tricky when you have 4 or more opposing factions to balance.
Cheers, Arrs.

Well when I do storyline missions for Minmatar, I get the exact same standing increase with Minmatar as I get decrease with Angel Cartel. So in my example this doesn't hold true.
The derived standings are based on the faction's standing towards each other. Minmatar - Angel Cartel is -9 both ways. This apparently gives a derived standing of -100%. I'm not aware of any way to reduce this derived standing loss.
So as I said earlier, the only way I see of getting positive standings with all factions would be to only do missions for factions that when you add up the positive and negative standings towards that corp, end up with a positive standing. This means that you get more positive derived standings for doing missions for the faction, than ou get negative derived standings.
I see no other way. Unless there's some skill that increases the standing gains without increasing the negative derived standing penalties. The social skill increases the negative derived standings. You can verify this by looking at the standing transactions.
So back to my question: How do you get positive standings with all factions?

Yes, it is possible to get positive standings with every faction...but only to a point.
Here is how.
Step 1. Train diplomacy to level I and/or II. Each level it will give you a + 0.4 increase in faction/corp standings for factions/corps -ve in standing to you.
Step 2. Do level 1 missions for a faction (say courier).
Step 3. Wait until you get a faction mission offer, go do it.
Step 4. You will now have a positive standing with the faction you ran the mission with and, if the associated faction decrease is not larger than 0.4 (assuming you have level 1 in diplomacy) the faction and/or corporation that you would have normally dropped faction with will appear in your "we lub you section" of your standings.
Warning Obviously, this is completely dependent on the diplomacy skill which, if trained to level 5, has a +2.0 effect to corporations and factions with a negative standing to you. This makes the low limit of your negative standings -1.9999 if you want that faction to still remain "in lub" with you so to speak.
Of course, doing things like shooting rats will also decrease your the npc corp and faction standing with that type of pirate but this, as far as i have observed, only lets you increase standing with Corcord (which strangely shows as a corporation...when its ment to be a faction). You can inspect this by right clicking on the corp and selecting "show transactions" - I think. For instance, churning through level IV kill missions for Gallente will make you hated by Serpentis, Angels (to an extent), Caldari and Amarr Mandate (to an extent), Khanid, Blood Raiders, etc. Next time you take out a Core Baron battleship or Fleet Commodore battleship, check out your faction decrease.
Come Kali im not sure how important your faction standings will be. But with the implementation of a feature named Factional Warfare im betting, aye, it will be important.

Ok so I am correct in assuming that it's impossible to get like +6 with all factions at the same time.
Thx a lot for your answer.

It might be possible. But I'm not sure I have any enemies I hate enough to wish that grind upon doing only courier missions. I certainly wouldn't put myself through that pain
If your still have this goal in mind make sure you train the Social skill all the way up to 5. It will increase the gain you make with each mission.
