I think I see where you're going, and I kind of agree. There's entirely too much "Oppression Olympics" that goes on, and it sucks and draws attention away from real issues.

Lets take the female characters in games. Yeah, it's nowhere near perfect. Tons of objectifying. Unrealistic expectations and all. It's not an "end of the world" thing though. Seeing a chainmail bikini isn't going to inspire some dude to go out and force himself on an innocent woman.

It's something that SHOULD be able to be addressed in a logical manner. Yeah, we need to tone down some of the "woman as object" ideas in gaming, but on the flipside, it's a fantasy world so there's going to be a level of idealism involved.

I don't think you're getting that the argument being given isn't necessarily something that's actually related to one individual. The harassment of that woman was obviously wrong, should never have happened, and a sign of the disgusting under-belly of the gaming community. But it's not linked to every single argument for and against the perception of women in video games. Take a deep breath and a step back before your next 'micdrop'.

i can't really comment on how white italians are considered because i'm not even the slightest bit italian, but i was under the impression that people of mediterranean and irish descent are generally classed as white in most pleas in america. then again, lots of subsets of "white" people are often not considered white enough by certain people. i'm sure someone out there would freak out about me being a filthy slav/armenian mutt

Most people of Mediterranean descent don't consider themselves white. Especially not in the US, considering that Italians were once the most hated ethnicity in the country (even moreso than blacks, for a good half a century or more)... ESPECIALLY considering that to this day, it's still socially acceptable to make racist comments and stereotypes about my people.
Mediterranean includes Greeks, Spaniards, Turks, Portuguese, Monocans, and a few Middle-East ethnicities. Armenians are technically included in that.
Italians actually have more physically in common with Arabs and Persians than any white people, not to mention Italian culture is in complete odds with other European nationalities.

As for your other post, no, I didn't give her money. But I agree with most of the things she says. I'm not sure what that "subscription to Jezebel" comment is meant to do to me. Or is that some kind of stealth "gay" joke? Cuz, if so, you can stow that. I freely admit I'm not entirely straight.
