I have a d-link and live in the NJ area, I reinstalled eve, I flushed the dns cache, I can only connect if I go directly to my cable modem, this has never been a problem since two days ago.
If I go through a proxy I can connect from behind my router to myeve but still cannot play eve.
Any clues?

I've answered this on the IRC server...
Some versions of Dlink firmware have a paranoia issue.
Google up Dlink, Paranoia, christmas tree or something.
http://shadow.sentry.org/~trev/dsl50x.html is a link.. -----

Maybe all your useless wannabe net pros should shut up.
It's a C&W routing issue, always has been always will be. One day CCP will see the error of their ways and change to a real hosting provider.

I am also having problem with eve. I can connect but its spotty. I use cable modem. What I found was that if I hook up the cable directly to my modem and not share it with cable boxes using a splitter, the connection becomes fairly stable. This all started happening around last Sunday. I've been running even w/o problem for 2 months b4. I called my isp and after the phone guy couldn't fix it, arranged to have a technician dispatched for Tuesday in 2 weeks. For now I use the work around to connect. Try it for yourself, hope it works for you too.

sorry to depress you guys but after installing the firmware upgrade and refreshing the ip assigned to my router by my provider the connection was fixed (this happened the same day I posted this) I just didn't read the forums for a while....
Oh, and could someone dig up the Playboy september thread? I completely missed it.

Thank you ;P Remember D-link sucks, upgrade firmware often.
Die people who just blame CCP. [Wait, I blame CCP for horrible support, but not for connection problems].
Might as well have a whinge about people who think the forums is the proper avenue for support [Re: Rancid Mare/Primo X threads, CCP/Devs/GM's don't even have to read these forums].

I had this problem this afternoon after my ISP went down.
I flushed DNS, cleared out my Eve cache and internet cache, re-installed Eve, disconnected my modem, reconfirmed its settings, restarted a few times and suddenly I could connect to the forums and Eve again.
No idea why it happens. I lost 18 hours training on my 2nd account though.
