Currently BS Fleets work when you have (or can make your opponent think you have) a Batphone to call in heavies to counter any heavies they bring, OR you're not worth dropping heavies on for other reasons.
CCP's fleet doctrine: Make sure we're worth dropping heavies on, and be sure to avoid having any heavies to back us up.

This. Hotdropping with a Cap/Supercap fleet (kind of[Hooray Logoffski Fix]) comes with the risk of losing said Cap/Supercap fleet to another Cap/Supercap fleet.
While I'm not a big fan of large Cap/Supercap battles, or battles in which one side has those tools and the other doesn't, they make sense given the rules as they exist now. PL acted perfectly reasonably in dropping an overwhelming force to ***** on killm... dispatch their adversaries.
Had CCP wanted to keep the fight limited to Subcapital ships, they'd have simply cyno-jammed the system a-la Incursions. They didn't so it seems they ... like being ganked by supers... or wanted to fight under the same conditions we do. |

Now it's one of those threads. The kinds I wholeheartedly enjoy. But, I hear the stations in Sansha space have some interesting upcoming CQ rooms. Perhaps those are worth waiting for. I'm sure the 1% at CCP will finish occupying them soonGäó. |
