Location: Jita
Ship: Dramiel fitted for 6474 m/s cap stable.
Distance from warp in point to 0m is around 330,000 km. I cut this distance short by creatively making bookmarks. I flew millions of meters over night and finally reached 0m from the sun. I then realized that I only reached the surface of the sun.
The suns actual coordinates are x:0, y:0, z:0 but my bookmarks arent even close to that. so I flew some more. At this point it became difficult to determine how far I had left to go. Then I realized I could use my bookmark coordinates and my speed and a stopwatch to determine the distance.
Since all 3 coordinates are reducing at the same rate to finally reach 0,0,0 they by definition reduce at the same rate. I tested this over a 5 minute period and determined it was the case. I then computed how much the x coordinate was reducing each second by averaging two readings from 25 minutes apart. Then I computed how much time til x reached 0. I multiplied that time by the speed of my ship to determine my distance from 0,0,0 coordinates.
Let me tell you, when you get close you see an effect I call the eye of god. It literally looks like an eye of pure fire. An incredible effect. Before you get that close you see a pulsating flame which is only visible after you cross the event horizon of the sun.
Tip for those who try this: I warped between multiple steller bodies to drop hours off my flight time. I simply warped between the two nearest bm's until I was almost on top of the sun. You can use this trick to easily get inside the sun before manually piloting at all.
On a scale of 1-10 I give this a solid 9.5 for the light show. Have fun guys. |

ProTip: Only black holes have event horizons.
