I was wondering how well a cyclone with this setup would do against a BS( such as a raven):
5 720mm scouts
3 medium nos/3 heavy launchers
1 T2 med/large SB
1 shield amp/or 4 T2 passive hardners
3 T2 gyro and 1 T2 PDU
I know some will say to use AC instead but how about this setup? Stay within nos range and any gunboat BS will have a hard time hitting me.

Against a solo BS I can't get webbed if I stay out of its range( which should be easy).

honestly i see you quite dead
a raven probably will dispatch you quite easilly with t2 torps or cruisers, also you have not an ab/mwd so every close range BS with one fitted will easilly catch and web you
also your nos range will be a bit over 10km and at that distance a close range gunboat will probably track better than you (720mm have not a good tracking)

I don't know how much dmg I can tank with that but I can run the Sb forever.

That seems the best setup without warp jamming ability?

I bought a Cyclone yesterday and although i have about 5 hours experiance with it, heres what I fly mine with.
HIGH
5 X Dual 180 'scout'
3 X Medium 'Ghoul' NOS
Mids 1
10MN ABII(700m/s)
Web
20km Scram
2 X 'Hypnos' Multispecs (Leaves me with no tank but i got jumped by a blasteranis and a crow i just jammed em and ran off soooo, i like it. (Shortly after the fight i realised that i could have just webbed / NOS'd and killed the blasteranis but i wasnt in a fighting frame of mind so meh, no worries. Least im not dead.))
OR
10mn AB (700m/s)
Web
Large CL5 booster thingy
2 X Large Shield Extender (9k shields total but pretty bad resists. If i wasnt so slow id train up my shield comp skills to max and stick an invul on)
Lows
2 X Nanofiber
2 X Tracking Enhancers
OR
2 X Tracking
2 X Gyro
Personally i prefer the Nanos cause it gives a great speed boost. Gyros dont really make too much difference with the 180's i think because if your only hitting for 20dmg per shot, whats and extra few % of dmg? Pffft.
I love tracking enhancers. YARR!
I use Nuclear M because ive got 45k of it in my hanger im too lazy to go buy something else.
Always carry 8 X light drones.
I tanked a 3 X Malakim spawn with it yesterday (Mostly due to transversial methinks), but wasnt able to break their tanks either so i took it for a spin PvP'n and killed an ibis, a rifter and a hauler... BOOYAH!
Then i went to bed.

5x 220mm vulcans, 3x med nos
10mn ab (t2 if possible), large sb, sb amp, 7.5k scram and an invuln 2
pdus and gyros
fill it with t2 hammerheads
will do crazy damage (relatively) and with the nos and a couple pdus it will run that booster for a long long time
(trust me i've used this setup before =)

What's the advantage of 220mm over 425mm besides rof/tracking?
In my opinion the 425mm more than make up for the SLIGHTLY higher rof/tracking with dmg since I plan on fighting BC/BS with it( have my tempest for lvl 4s).
I was able to get a CNR with hardners down to low shield using 425mm so I think I might stick with it.
Would using 3 invul be overkill and not worth it? I don't know if a webber will be really worth it( at least not on ravens) so should I use another invul or shield amp?

Musta been armor tanked or a clueless person. Honestly, a Cyclone has no chance against a properly setup PvP Battleship. Two Heavy Nos > 3 Mediums, you take almost full damage from T2 torps, Large guns will have no problem tracking you, and his tank will be MUCH better than yours. He has a bigger dronebay too.
The only BC that I could imagine beating a Battleship is a Brutix starting right on top of the Battleship. And even that is unlikely.

Hi there,
to answar your question..against a raven..you would not last long..if in range cruise/torps will hit ya..even if ya use crappy defenders which would massively gimp ya set up
my corp mate is a BC pilot..got Brutix and BC to L5..now the Brutix is a tough SOB and this guy is Gallente pilot only so got very good amrour tanking/armour comp skills..T2 blasters and T2 drones were fitted..also second best dmg control fitted..
he was in hull in 30 seconds..i was using T1 cruise.no drones no nos..we have approx the same amount of skills..so moral is..dont fight missile BS'S
..as a foot note..his BC tanked a cyc and autophoon we were at war with and chewed cyc up with ease and was doing well against the phoon (i arrived in Eagle and popped phoon, sorry phoon pilot )..get in real close and orbit..make life difficult for the BS..i think BC's can be awsome..i like the sound of some of those autocyc set ups..think you could upset a few gun BS's when ya get up real close..just dont get webbed and nossed
p.s please dont flame above fight..i no peeps have different skill levels and all that..it's only an example but in eve,like life..fights arn't always even

1. Without AB/MWD even 1400 equipped Tempest will spank you. Your speed suck too much to get transversal with moving target.
2. With AB/MWD but without web every close range BS with AB/MWD or web will kill you.
3. With AB/MWD and web you are still very vulnerable against close range tanked BS's. They can tank you damage and kill you with drones - even if they cant hit you with guns (most likely they still can).
4. Solo - only chances you have against NPC setted BS's without all-around tank (EANM II and Invul II ftw).
5. Find a friend or at least get an alt with another BC.

You're 4 volleys (maybe less) to a Javelin Raven.
Might fair better against cruise.

Maybe. but its only a maybe. Against something that sucks you might win, against anyone with any sense / skills you'll die horribly. Get a ferox. You'll do a hell of a lot better.

Think posters should post the BS's their setups are good for most BS's have 2 nos fitted and even the best named medium nos wont be able to compete against a named bs dual nos. You would have to orbit really close to a bs even megathrons have trouble hitting at 500m have a cap booster fitted (800).
Alternatively you could fit several of your mids with racial jammers and not worry about tactics at all.

Well I can easily take out cruisers/BC as I proved to myself today. I guess I'll stick to pirating little ships.
