Subscriptions flowing - money coming - profits.
There are anywhere between 21000 to 43000 players on Tranquility. Everyday I go by a highsec run I see countless obvious mining alts (unimatrix). I doubt there are that many unique players as of something like...2 years ago maybe? I've only played for 8 months but it has been like this ever since I started.
And yet there are something like 400k subscriptions? And plex transactions amount to 2000 per day? A lot of money going in and out for a "dead game"...
The other concern would probably be - is this really a game or just a posh online club for the rich ladies and gentlemen? Please do some research before always boosting about profits http://www.gamespot.com/articles/eve-developer-closes-san-francisco-office-two-key-/1100-6421968/
Yes, because closing an office completely unrelated to EVE development is a sign of the end times. Some fine research there, and as always, nothing assumed, inconsistent or circumstantial about this at all. GÇ£Some capsuleers claim that ECM is 'dishonorable' and 'unfair'. Jam those ones first, and kill them last.GÇ¥ - Jirai 'Fatal' Laitanen, Pithum Nullifier Training Manual c. YC104 |

Side note, none of them had any affect on EVE at all. At least after SC comes out we can embark on the next "what game is gonna do it" speculation fest. Potential Irony: EVE Valkyrie is gonna kill EVE.
Go look at eve-offline.net and tell me those games didn't any effect on Eve. Less people playing Eve today than on my first day in 2009.

Eve numbers have only ever increased during the release windows of any of those listed games.
The current problems facing eve are internal, not external. There isn't some new space feudalism simulator out there. No, a subset of the people in this space feudalism simulator are bored because they have to live in a mess they helped create. Because that's what happens when you blue all of your neighbors. |

Suppose all this comparing to star citizen may drive more people to eve when sc gets boring and full of microtransactions and ofcourse sc will run from day 1 with absolutely no problems or glitches and exploits, cant compete with over 10 years of development really EVEALON Creative --áLogo Design | Killboard Banners | -áWeb Design | Website Graphics -á

"Today" less people are playing Eve, many of the people who left did so to go to one or more of those games.

As long as Valkyrie can be played on my pc with an xbox controller, instead of the derpy vr headset, then I'll be whole-heartedly excited for it to come out. CCP has stated that it will be available on pc, but like anything else they say, it's more like "we'll see". |

I'm sure there are many former EVE players playing SWG, Black Prophecy and Jumpgate right this moment. It doesn't matter in the least that those games don't exist at all lol.
You've lost the plot here, the point is that people predicted that those games would kill EVE. Not only did those games not kill EVE, EVE has survived most of them and grew the entire time those games were supposed to be a threat.
Hell, SWG (a sandbox originally) was closer in general concept that the future heavily instanced thempark Star Citizen ever will be and even it didn't cause any problems for EVE Online. Like Tippia said, the only measurable dip related to a game launch came from Diablo 3.
I get it, you're gone when SC launches. I say have fun.

Player influx is X number of players over Y amount of time. New games slowing the influx don't have to drop subs on the tranquility monitor in a negative direction to cause the final outcome. The final outcome of course is that less people are playing Eve and more people are playing those games than before they were launched. Accounts may not be used for business purposes. EVE stole me from SWG when the NGE happened, infact I think you can find the bulk of SWG bittervets around here. Even the CEO of SOE is an avid EVE player. Join Bat Country today and defend the Glorious Socialist Dictatorship |
