Howabout rather make this the poor man's capital ship instead? It could be like a really large destroyer, even get the same bonuses/penalties. In which case the class makes perfect sense, kind of like how a destroyer is the step between a frig and cruiser.
- 500mil-800mil
- can't use stargates.
- similar skill bonus layout to destroyers but nix all optimal range and tracking bonuses
- change -25% ROF penalty to -25% tracking penalty
- change 50% range bonus to capital repairer bonus
- same slot layouts as their destroyer counterparts
- hard as sin to fit
- slow as dreads
- as far as per race skill bonuses go atm, i'm stumped cause its 5am and you should never post tired.
These things would be built to be in the center of every engagment, taking the heat from everything and little to no defense against ships smaller than BS other than the possbile nos ( I suppose you could realistically give them all only 4 highslots and give them suprmemely high damage and rof bonuses to counteract wanting to waste a slot on nos.)

Maby make a new drone class? The middel ground between Fighters and Heavy Drones and give the Battle Carrier bonuses to using those along with one or two tanking bonuses.

No more freakin drones. We don't need a carrier supplement, we need a pvp-capable mini-capital ship totally ineffective against anything smaller thna a BS, but not powerful enough alone to take down a real capital.

I'd love something similar to what is described in this thread. Only if it can use stargates though.
...on the other hand using a banana might be a viable alternative.

Then we'd also need an even smaller mini-mini-capital ship that can be one volleyed by the mini-capital ship so that you can't say it totally sucks!

Ugh, I hate drones. If you guys can get this, can us turret users get a ship with 16 gunslots?
Seriously, I was thinking more of something like an escort carrier: smaller,cheaper and more fragile then a carrier. Smaller dronebay, can fit some frigate sized guns for flak.

Yeah escort carrier sounds great, based on the tier 2 bc's retrofitted to use a few fighters, use medium guns and launchers but should have less then normal batlecruisers, and logistic bonusses.
