Granted, an E3 demo in the middle of a project is a source of frustration but the event is useful on a number of levels. E3 does need fixing, but what they're talking about here is using a hammer to tighten a screw. If they want to fix the show, start by filtering out the 8 zillion people who have no business being there. First, it's way too easy to scam a badge by making up a "press site". Second, the definition of who is actually part of the game industry needs to be tightened. No offense, but if you're a Blockbuster clerk you don't belong there, so get the hell out of my parking space.
Do that first. Cull out the crowd so that it's composed only of people who belong there and watch the productivity rise.

Oh great...
So i suppose now E3 will be only the likes of EA, Sony, Microsoft, etc, but anything smaller gets probably shafted? (judging by the fact it say "it would be more focused on promoting certain companies" or somesuch crap)

Well, there's really no one else poised to "take it over".
I don't actually see the show not happening this year but it's also true that there have been efforts to tone the thing down, which failed miserably. E3 does need fixing, but like I said, the way to fix it is to enforce their own attendance rules. The purpose of the event is to show off games to the press, the buyers, and (let's be honest) to each other. It's not a party for the teenage kid who works the rental counter yet that is exactly what it has become. Fix that and the rest will follow.

Sigs like yours **** me off to no end.
Can you people please not make your sigs look like parts of your post?
Also, E3 could've continued without Sony, Nintendo and microsoft, this is a copeout, and they'll probably realize that not having those major companies attend (or here's a thought, those companies don't spend so many millions), would HELP other companies.
Anyone here ever heard of JoWood? they make one of the best RTS ever, and the only RPG/RTS hybird I've ever seen work well (WC3 is a joke by comparison).

I’ve got to break with the pack, E3 has been more of a burden for the gaming industry than a boon.
First, there is literally nothing that E3 has ever accomplished that conventional press conferences couldn’t do every bit as well, but easier, cheaper, faster, and with far better exposure because they aren’t competing for space, time, and attention with every other booth in a building the size of an aircraft hangar.
Second, as has already been mentioned, for every person who genuinely is part of the electronics entertainment industry that gets into E3, there are at least ten complete idiots with no more industry experience than minmatar have brain cells. To those who may be wondering, working at the local game shop means you have NO industry experience, selling/playing/buying games is not equal to MAKING games.
Third, E3 for, anyone who’s ever gone to it, is chaos in action during and leading up to it since every company trying to present their best face has to typically cobble together a decent presentation out of an on-going project no matter how far from ready it may be. This very typically results in those companies going into overdrive just to make a presentation which no one will remember by the next E3, and only starves the main project from proper development while working on a completely irrelevant demonstration.
Developers in particular are much better served to not come up with unnecessary presentations at an arbitrary date to make E3, and work on the task(s) at hand, then hold their own press conference at their time and place of choice when THEY are ready to.
E3 is a nexus of “rush jobs” just to make an appearance because “everyone else is doing it”. Frankly, the less peer pressure there is in the industry the better, because that actually lets originality show through rather than every half baked developer making clones of every other game that does fairly well.
E3 is very exciting and entertaining to attend, but working it can be a living hell and very rarely shows what a project is truly worth, often leaving great titles in the shadows because “pokemon 7,492,783,618-R subcategory Delta” is coming to “Gameboy-Advanced Triple Screen of Uberness 7” and it’s on display completely unplayable, but since it’s a sequel it must be good… right???

It looks like after they saw CCP's bar they knew there was nothing else that could compete with it, so why bother.
Seriously, though, I don't really see this as a bad thing. Companies would spend months of their time getting ready for the event instead of doing actual work on their products just to look flashy for a day or two.
I think the industry will be better off without this circus of a distraction.

Considering nobody is actually talking to the ESA, I wouldn't believe any news until the ESA has a press release for it.

Unsubstantiated articles like these make me wonder if the publisher has an axe to grind.
Spread the word a bank has run out of money -> people will withdraw their money -> bank will run out of money. It's a bad analogy, I know.
To make the picture just clear, anyone knows of a trade show related to this news site that would just happening to be organizing an E3 ripoff, which could profit from this? Hmmm? Cause I think there must be one. .

So F true. I'll be happier without it, and I think all the producers that have to go there every year will be happier too.
