I got shot to **** by a gate sniper on my trial. It happens.
1) Why don't you? 2) You don't need t2 (fitted) battleships. You need persistence, skill and a blob. If you bring in 30 trial players, they could *****several of those campers. 3) They are killing players. Player. Versus. Player. I would assume that they call themselves PvPers because they are PvPing, and they know what it means. 4) It isn't an exploit. Nothing is being misused. 5) Why aren't you doing anything?

Perhaps it would be wise to go one step further back in time and ask the following question:
What did the pop up message say just before you jumped into your first low sec system?

You think that's wise, do you?
Okay, let's take a look. That popup message says that only as long as you stay in 0.5 or above, will CONCORD guarantee your safety from other players.
Note the word guarantee. Note how this rules out any possibility of being ganked in Jita while carrying bpo's in a shuttle.

1. Why don't these people get some dreadful disease and die? 2. Why doesn't anybody help us who can't gather a blob of friends in t2 battleships? 3. Why do these *******s call themselves pvpers? 4. Why is this not considered an exploit? 5. Why isn't anything being done?
Ignore the trolls. I can answer one of these questions for you.
The reason nobody comes in a fleet to help is that, the pirates usually have scouts and alts a few jumps in each direction. They'd know we were coming, and simply safespot or log off. We'd sit on the gate for 6 hours waiting/smacking... then leave out of boredom. The pirates would then immediately return.
The effort required is disproportionate, and revolves more around trying to outsmart pirates that are hopefully stupid... as opposed to outgunning them, which is easy.
For you to defeat these pirates is NOT a case of 'fighting' them in the traditional sense - they will just enjoy it. The best way is to try and create as much of an annoyance to them as they do to you. Try sitting on the gate warning every single person not to jump as there are snipers on the other side. -omg-

So Concord are lying bastards. That doesn't matter in this case, because there is no Concord in low sec, which is the important part of the message in this case.

Hm, even though I dont like sniper gate camps, it can be avoided. If they had 7-8 battleships, you should see their activity on the map ("Pods destroyed in last hour" filter). With instas you would probably survive too.
Lowsec is dangerous, especially in slow ship. I dont know if sentries limited range was planned feature, or if sniper's longer range is more like abuse of sentries bug, but they are reality so you need to plan your route carefuly.
Or dont go to lowsec at all, they will get eventually bored and quit the game for good. (more likely you will meet them in Jita suicide killing your ship though)

Concord != the sender of the message.
And even if they are (don't have a screenshot), you have to be mighty stupid to read that message and think to yourself 'ha, this is bs, I don't believe this, I'm sure I'll be safe in low sec.'
But hey, if you want to use semantics to justify a whine about gatesnipers in lowsec, be my guest. It would probably be more effective to find some friends with a brain, and kill them or drive them off. Note that that would take effort though.

I will give you helpful advice, unlike some others.
You should get some bookmarks or make your own, also try to stay out of low sec systems that have a high number of ship/pod kills in the last hour (check map for this) as these systems could be camped, it's not an exploit but it's far from PvP, real PvP uses skill and tactics, simple sitting at 200km+ is silly and in some cases they are asking for trouble.
Also I would stay off the fourms if you need any help, try the in-game help chat channel for advice, these fourms are full of goons, some you have just met.

Well unlike some of the people above, I'm not gonna call you a n00b and tell you to get a life. Instead, I'm going to share with you how I plan to go pick up my Cynabal (150ml faction cruiser) in lowsec (with about 8jmps through lowsec preceding).
Take my alt (nothing to lose eh?) put him in a shuttle. Take him to the highsec system before the lowsecs. Make my clone at the nearby Medical Facility.
In my shuttle I will make bookmarks to every gate to and from the destination making Safe Spots along the way in case I get in a jam.
How many times will I get podded? Who cares! I could get podded 15 times and I'd still be under 100k isk total cost to get a 150 million isk ship out.
Once I get my BM's to my main, I will get in a condor with 3 nanofibers and 3 WCSs in cargo, perhaps some shield resists or other various tanking items and a AB (just in case a BM is off) use the bookmarks and hit my destination. Hop in the Cynabal, fit the items above and use the bookmarks. I make pretty good BM's so I trust myself to not mess that up. The nano's will align me quick to warp to make opposite gate camping near impossible. I'll be in and out real quick.
Still, its not foolproof, but it increases my chances of survival by 200% no doubt.

I am based in a certain Lonetrek system that contains a gate that goes from high sec to low sec. As a result it is regularly camped, and guaranteed to be camped on weekends.
One day I tried the warn people that there is a gate camp only to watch a procession of ships fly by to their deaths, many apparently afk. It was like trying to stop lemmings from running off a cliff.

I just took my alt through the jumps made all the bookmarks and even had a guy clear an NPC gatecamp for me in his battleship while I watched in my shuttle patiently. Yes, I saw a -10 and a -9.2 but what did I have to lose? So I got my bookmarks, now to get the ship into highsec.

hat is why there is that little pop-up warning whenever you enter low sec, saying Concord will not protect you, are you sure you wish to go.
Eve is a lot like other MMO's, WoW included. in WoW, there is a PK switch, whcich can enable your character to go PK. Eve has the same thing, they are just called jumpgates. Going to .4 or lower, your purposly making yourself PK enabled.

Why would they?
Originally by: Brother Todd 2. Why doesn't anybody help us who can't gather a blob of friends in t2 battleships?
Because instead of learning from your mistake the first time you keep making it and whining about it. This is Eve, help yourself.
Originally by: Brother Todd 3. Why do these *******s call themselves pvpers?
It is technically PvP but in real terms it is to pirates like a strange mix of mining and lucky dip, not combat. Boring as hell they sit and snipe at everything that comes by in the hope that somebody is hauling an expensive BPO in a shuttle. It happened once and has encouraged shuttle popping ever since. Some pirate groups also run killboards that score quite highly for killing shuttles.
No, I don't get it either but thats probably why I don't do it.
Originally by: Brother Todd 4. Why is this not considered an exploit?
Because it is not an exploit. Look up the definition of exploit. Next question.
Originally by: Brother Todd 5. Why isn't anything being done?
Option 1, go around it. Yep I do that from time to time ifit's not too many extra jumps.
Option 2, go through it. Yeah, I've run plenty of blockades. I live in 0.0 so I have to contend with bubbles, interdictors and intie tacklers on a regular basis. A handfull of snipers is nothing, it's just a matter of learning how to deal with it.
Option 3, get some mates together and clear the camp. Very easy to do with a covops or just a whole bunch of really fast ships. Trust me I know.
Bottom line, plenty being done. Just not by you.
