In order to answer a couple of questions that have popped up regarding the upcoming championship:
1. Ni-Kunnis are allowed to compete although they are not "racially clean". They are Amarr citizens and thus allowed to compete in the championship.
2. The pre-selection championship will take place over the weekend of Oct 19-20th. A schedule will be available on the player website tomorrow.
3. Combat will take place inside a system with no planets or asteroid belts ( a void ). There will be no warping away from combat.
4. There will be no re-imbursements for lost ships, implants or skills. Remember there is a podding penalty so any podding or pod-targeting will be severely damaging for the, um, podder ( is that the right word? ).
5. The championship battles between the houses will take weekend after the pre-selection battles.
6. Sign-up for the championship ends this Friday ( Oct 10th ). Those who have not yet signed up and plan to defend the honor of their House, do so now or be forever damned.
7. The reasons there was no dev feedback or input on the forums for the past five days is that the entire CCP staff was in Spain having their "ßrshßtÝ" and are now recovering from that. The team should be returning to full functionality any time now...

I noticed someting in the info on the championship about "voting"; and was wondering if I could learn more on how/when the "voting" will be done?... |

There's a problem with this.
Splash damage from missiles can cause accidental poddage. In this case the pod itself would not have been targeted and because there are no warp-to points, warping away is impossible for the podded person.
What's the stance on this? What will be the penalty in when someone gets accidentally podded (eg, he was not locked prior to being podded)? I assume your records can show this and the referee has access to these records, but I want to know for sure.
It might just be easier to banish missiles altogether (thereby eliminating Kestrel and Inquisitor dominance =\).
oh and "ßrshßtÝ" sound naughty ;)

My personal preference would be for any podding to classed as violating the rules, whether it was accidental or not. First person to pod another loses. This means that people can use missiles but they need to be careful.

That doesn't prevent the abuse of intentionally getting into a missile's path when downed, though, or, when the opponent uses heavies or cruises orbiting a pod at 100 metres, hoping for the other team to get disqualified :)

I can't see why theres such a fuss about podkilling. Considering that the whole competition is about I R L33T CHAMPIAN!1 then you should be prepared to put your life on the line.
If you're crammed to the gills with implants and only have a basic clone then maybe you should think twice about applying. Remember the same rules for ships apply to your body - only fight with what you can afford to lose.

When will the specific combat rules be out?
Something like distance from enemy team when dropped into the system, which ships are allowed (amar only?), are the enemy ships be clearly distinguishable through color?

Actually I think that using human shields should be a valid tactic, and yes it had crossed my mind
If someone launches a barrage of missiles then they are almost guaranteed a pod-kill, so I can't see how it can really be seen as accidental. Easiest solution is to either ban smartbombs and missiles, or a simple podding=disqualified rule. Anything else will lead to arguments if a podding happens.

Edited by: Beringe on 08/10/2003 12:48:09 It's a veiled discouragment from using missiles. You still can, of course, but you take the risk of podding someone, which disqualifies you.
I think the combats will be more interesting that way, keeping everyone on their toes. ------------------------------------------- "My main griveance with the Caldari state was that once I had finished my work for them, they wanted me dead."

Arshatia is obviously an icelandic thing, they just happen to celebrate it in Spain.
Also, the Championship page says: "Sign up with a house that best fits your schedule so that you won't miss out on your chance at determining who shall be the next Amarr Emperor."
So your schedule determines your political interests for you in this universe? Interesting...

I can't see there being a need for that, unless you use cap booster, then you'll empty your cargo pretty damn quick... Any clarification on the podding issue?
I have to say that if accidental podding is allowed then it will be sorely tempting to 'whoops apocalypse' any Minmatar wingmen.

There's something that i can't understand... is warping (use warp drive) forbidden, or you suppose that "There will be no warping away from combat." because of the absence of objects in the system (wrong there will be 8 ships and... containers probably) ?

Whomever uses missile boats wins. That simple. Why don't you hold contests AFTER you balance the game. Seriously, it's like you guys are running a circus and not a company.
