Hi!
I've been reading the forums about the different types of missiles and torps!
Almost everyone says, use different missiles against different targets, like EMP versus strong shield, etc.
But, say that I met a ppl in 0.0 space. I cant say, hold on, I'm just going to get some missiles that "fit" your type of ship!
So, my question is, what kind of missile or torp is good for every moment, like say Pvp!
Since missiles/torps is a waste against NPC.
Are there a good overall missiles or?
I'm going to use 2 different missiles on my launchers.
What kind of combination si best then?
I'm thinking of Cata and Dev?
Suggestions from all missile lovers?

Well, some people use EMP missiles and then reload with explosive once the enemy's shield is down. If you only have a couple shots before reloading it's easy to swap out... just carry several types in your cargo hold.
Thermal and impact are good for both shields and armor, so some people just use those full-time. Personally, I like impact, but I'm not big on missiles in general so you might want to ask a Raven pilot.

If you check resistences on Armour and Shield, you will see that both are rather low on Thermal. So that is why many people pack Thermal Weapons, because if the other (your enemy) hasn't got any hardeners, you will do quite a lot of shield damage.
On the other hand, it is fairly logical to equip thermal hardeners, both on your armour and in your shields.
Themost professional is surely to have a collection of Torps, which deal EMP and Kinetic damage, as well as some Thermal damagae torps for times when you don't want to change ammunition.

A good choice is either Thermal as an all round weapon, or a combination of EM and EXP/KIN.
Load up your launchers with EM torps, and have the exp/kin in cargo.
If u are going after smaller targets like cruisers use a combination of em and thermal. Launch the EM's first, then the thermals, reload the em launcher with exp/kin to finish the kill

If you cant be bothered looking into specifics - i agree with above- just buy thermal - good all round.

I'm not a big missle user myself, but when I do use them, I like to open with EM missles till I close in for guns against NPC's.
Against PC's though, it becomes highly dependant on the situation.

ItÆs too bad you can't load different types of missiles in at once. You should have to have either all torpedoes or all cruiser or something, but then you should be able to mix up what kind of damage you want. So in a siege launcher with 5 torpedos you could make the first 2 EM and then the next 3 Thermal. The missiles all have to be of the same class though. The launcher should have to be configured to use a certain kind of missiles in station. You can still use all kinds of missiles in a launcher (with enough capacity) you just wouldn't be able to fire 5 torpedoes and then switch to cruise. Just like pushing bullets into a magazine, the first one you pushed in would be the last one you fired. ThatÆs how they put tracers and such in.. Push in Kinetics first, then Thermals, then EM.
That'd be cool

Against npc's it's thermal all the way.
In PvP it may actually pay to use kinetic or explosive damage against enemy shields for the simple reason that by virtue of harders EM and thermal resistance will most likely be about 70% and up, very few ships have the luxury of enough midslots to consider using kinetic and explosive hardners which make these damage types the more usefull.

when you have 4 launchers I suggest the following:
Pack large amounts of EMP, Thermal and Explosive missiles. Remember that your real advantage with missiles is the ability to dish out any type of damage so packing 1 or 2 types only is bs. ALWAYS carry at least 3 types of missiles when you can run into a pvp battle.
Now what you do before battle is equip 3 of your launchers with EMP missiles/torps and 1 with thermal. You can also do a 2 EMP/2 Thermal combo. This is done because your enemy is most likely equipped with hardeners so shooting EMP and Thermal at once raises your chance of doing enough damage to the shields. As soon as the shields are down you switch all 4 launchers to Explosive.
Don¦t worry. With a little practise you¦ll find that switching the missiles is totally easy and in fact is nothing more than a simple reload.

Thx all!
Very good tips!
btw, I've never been in a PvP battle yet, how can I see or know when his shield are down?
When you fight NPC you only see the "red" dmg!
So, when do I know when the shield is down!

the first half of the circle is shields, the second half is armor/hull. it works for NPCs too, you just wont notice it unless you let the npc regen its shields.
