Hello
During one of the live events back in 2003, CCP Hillmar & CCP Oveur specifically stated that Eve's technology would "continue to evolve from t1 through to t4 and beyond" When asked if this was ships and modules there was a resounding "yes"
I'd like to ask, is the plan that was stated in 2003 still part of the games long term future? |

Personally, I'd rather have the ships we do have rebalanced first, wouldn't you? |

I actually prefer making the ships in game more specialized and less vanilla (as they have been doing over the last couple updates) rather than keeping the bland vanilla ships of old and just adding more ships. |

I hope like hell it's not the plan. T3's have already proven such a nightmare that they have had to keep a bizarre skill loss mechanic in place to at least sort of balance them. (Yes, I know about the lore reason, but lore reasons can also be written out if no longer needed and with all the advancements in clone mechanics since then you would think they had fixed that by now) |

Unless you can find unique roles for T4 hulls to fill I don't see why they should be in the game. T1 is baseline, T2 has specialization, navy faction is T1.5 with less training than T2, pirate faction has rule breaking/unusual mechanics, and T3 has generalization. I'm not sure what other roles could possibly be filled to be honest. |

I don't forsee Tech 4 showing up any time in the near future, if ever, as the the rate of technological advancement has been rather slow/stopped, at least from the Empires. Tech 3 cruisers were released very shortly after WH's were "discovered," and yet since then, no new Tech 3 ship/class/module has been released or even mentioned. Sansha has developed Logistics Battleships (Intaki Colliculus), and yet only the Sisters of Eve (not an empire) have developed anything slightly close to it (Nestor). Empire technology is getting passed up, and no display or mention of anything leaning towards Tech 3 development has happened since WH's. If we do get anything further in terms of new technology, it will probably be as a T1 (ex: MJD), as our "invention" capabilities are currently recreating "new" technologies (Tech 2) even though they have been around for years now, and yet still have a chance of failure to be "invented." I imagine the odds of new Tech 3 being invented in my lifetime is slim to none, much less Tech 4. |

CCP said a lot of things in those early days. They've also developed an impressive track record for not completely delivering everything they say they will, and for running out of attention span before a particular project is complete.
Dear CCP: Please start taking your ritalin. |
