1. I discovered, and realized, that there is no deep space travel in this game.
What I mean is... you can never travel from star to star thru deep space. You skip right over it when you Jump from one solar system to another. You never travel in the vast deep space between the stars.
I think having a game that had that would be really cool. Eve could never have that feature because of how it is engineered. Stellar Cartography and Navigation would have real meaning in such a game.
2. Tell me what else is missing from this game that you always wanted to see from hard core science fiction? (IE: Isaac Asimov, Pol Anderson, Robert A. Heinlein, Orson Scott Card, Larry Niven, and many more I cannot recall offhand)

Edited by: Drethen Nerevitas on 08/10/2003 09:44:16 In addition Zez...we lack a "Activate Warp Drive" option. Yes. We can warp to somewhere in a system, but we can't just point ourselves at open space and switch the warp drive on (And people talking about needing a signal to lock on to for the warp drive - that's only if you want to approach an object, all the warp drive does is remove all matter from around your ship and uh...stop your ship exploding). *wants to point his ship at deep space and pull the lever*

Edit: If CCP ever does put intersystem travel in...perhaps if every hundred thousand jumps or so a jumpgate malfunctioned and err...dropped you a few thousand/million au from the nearest system. Anyway. We can wish . _______________________________________________________________________

Good Point
Additional FTL Drive systems would be a nice addition to the game.

Edited by: Drethen Nerevitas on 08/10/2003 10:06:55 Please don't troll this thread .
Anyway, we're not saying we want it now, or even it should ever happen, just that it'd be interesting. And if someone is prepared to sit out 4 days to reach Jove space in a low end battleship with a souped up warp drive after (after) the release of jump drives when everyone and his dog is already there, I say it'd be their choice.
Besides, it would make for some interesting stations .
Would be nice Nosferatu...isn't CCP already working on large 'roid belts and other celestial objects?
Edit: Babye, if you have nothing interesting to say in a useful thread, please don't say anything. TY. _______________________________________________________________________

Can't. The way eve is set up makes that impossible (warping to other systems).
Every point in space has a XYZ coordinate, if you'd have one big galaxy where warping between stars would be possible, you'd have enormously long numbers for X, Y or Z. :(

I like the "folders idea" in the hangars.
What EVE truly lacks , I said it before
1) Dynamic, living and breathing NPC corps 2) Dynamic and truly usefull MARKET

Not really chief. Just tired of CCPs bull****.
Of course, I'd like them to actually fix what is already in game before they start dangling carrots in front of our noses.

I miss 'the Restaurant at the end of the Universe', I seriously hope then when Jove space opends there is one station with that name.
Otherwise some corporation should name their station after it.

Edited by: Luc Boye on 08/10/2003 12:06:10 I have a list of things missing in Eve as well:
- topless bars - bar fights - beer - rock bands - choppers
It would be cool if Devs could implement stuff to do at stations, so pirates and bounty hunters could dock at same station and duke it out. It could serve as a solution to the station camping issue --

I dont think he has a grudge, just pointing out the presents Santa said he was goinging to bring us and instead brought us anchoring .
I would also like to the the ability to sell the uncommon pirate drops. The low end stuff isn't worth going on Trade channel to sell, and the newbies who would buy it aren't normally on.

Allow the "Free warp" (warping in a chosen direction...) will rock.:) In Earth and Beyond there was "path" warping, via a series of waypoints, or the so called Free-warp. You point your ship facing a certain direction, and started to warp. The only drawback was that free warping could drain your cap flat in a matter of seconds. Maybe more if you had the right reactor...
And this:
Quote: Deployables, player made stations, rogue drones, boosters, working gang skills, working social skills, formations, licenses, alliance controls, titans, elite frigates, reverse engineering, stock market, working war system, real-time market, deep-core mining, serial number tracking, planetary mining, casinos, Interbus, working level IV & V agents, armour piercing, shield piercing, a storyline and some semblance of customer support.
Plus, stationary warp disruptors, usefull mines and... new tech level obtained via RESEARCHING the old tech levels BP!!!!!!!(This way having a char conceived to do research and development would have some purpose or a vague kind of sense....):)
By the way, thinking about a game where you can start to warp in, say, Amarr, and you end the warp in (i.e) New Caldari WITHOUT gate jumping and loading had me drooling more than once.:)(Continuous warp time throughout all the EVE universe)

This game does need a market and dynamic NPC corps - it also needs an NPC inter-system war so that players could run guns/slaves/narcs there, and also a working criminal underground market thing. With faction ratings and stuff.

Player made stations Mobile Refineries
I think these two things would change the political make like world war 4.
I would love to see underused 0.0 space suddenly populated by many corps moving out to them.

I can sum up what this game needs in 3 words...
STUFF TO DO

[27]
1. The ability to cancel warp before it commits the drive. This would be an excellent feature, particularly when you get stuck against a rock or a ship trying to warp out. It would also help for those 'oops' moments when you accidentally double-click on a star, planet, moon, etc when you just wanted to turn your ship. No more 'Sorry guys, I'll be right back...'
2. Flight into a docking port on a station. Imagine zooming in when your ship's being blasted and everyone in the docking bay scrambling to get out of the way. It's gotta beat bouncing off an invisible wall 12km out from the station's perimeter (had it happen many times) when you do an approach.
3. An onboard evasive maneuvers setup for when you jump into a system and find yourself getting shot to hell and back. The setup automatically sets warp to the nearest celestial body and the chase is on! (Just don't forget to set it to 'auto' )
4. Using space 'items' to block shots. Face it, hiding behind a 'roid to block the effects for a missile blast is one thing, shouldn't this apply to all OTHER forms of ammo as well? Right now if someone tried to hide behind a rock the blasts would nail them as if the rocks weren't there at all! If you could use stations, 'roids, other ships to intercept or block shots from the enemy you COULD take the battles to the belts!
5. The ability to 'hide'. Maybe use some of the non-volatile gaseous clouds to mask your ships' signature and then ambush the enemy. Dust a large roid with missiles and tuck in behind the debris, with the ore body within the small fragments throwing off the other guy's tracking. Tuck in behind a small moon and then spin around while the indy's tucking items into that Giant secure can.
Just ideas.

It is true I am afraid. Those things would be so very nice in a game... but they are an entirely different kind of game. A whole different genre in fact... like a combat sim game with large scale ecomomics and politics. With a real time strategy game crossed with a first person shooter.
I'm afraid Eve just isnt that game.
I'm looking more for minor changes that have major impacts.
