There's something I've been curious about but keep forgetting to ask. Is BOB an alliance that plays or used to Planetside as well as Eve?

Don't think so. BoB was formed a good while after eve was begun, the seperate corps coming from different beginnings.

Not sure this one deserves to be locked though as it's a simple curiousity question not a troll or flame.

I'd like to know the history.
When I Join a corp called Oblivion systems, we were about to join an alliance called the phoenix alliance. For some reason The Famous Reikoku Must have caught wind of this and we faced a War declaration in out home system of Avada (in the aridia region).
Needless to say after relentless fighting. (More relentless RKK killing us) We joined the Phoenix alliance, and out of our own saftey lived in Venal, Tenal, Branch etc....
Where we were introduced to the Evolution, Arcane technologies Black nova corportation, Rough necks incorporated (I think it was them not sure) and Obviously those dudes mOo. (please correct me if im wrong)
BKG became a hotspot for the next 12 months. As Conquerable stations had just been introduced. There was also no such thing as an alliance. only groups of corporations calling themselves alliances.
Noone in our corp at the time Even knew what BoB was an Acronymn for, And Showing my gullability I asked a corp member (Xrak, That was you) He said it stood for Battery Operated Boyfreind, I then proceeded to tell everyone in eve that I knew what it meant. Didn't I feel a Tit when someone said Band of brothers must be repelled, and my response was : Who ?
So In a nutshell, I'd love to hear the history behind them.

Bob was forged during the GNW and was Atuk, BNC, Evol, m0o, Reikoku and Rough Necks.
It is ran by the 4 ceo's - Stan, Blacklight, SirMolle and Galavet. None of them knew each other before this game.
Originally we were called CCP... the cookies, cake and pie alliance but CCP asked us to change it.
Rough Necks were absorbed by RKK. m0o was disbanded and the decent pilots were absorbed by all four corps. ATUK became DICE much later. BNC split down into BNC and BNC.E for logistical purposes but are still one corporation in all our eyes.
Considering the recent folding of Norad, FA and SA, that would now put us as one of the oldest, if not the oldest, alliances still in the game in any serious capacity.
As Gunstar says above, you can get more info at our history page.

Rough-Necks were always Rough-Necks. We were a CS clan who migrated to Eve. RN is still in existence at this time. We were part of CFS, then the members joined m0o, then rejoined RN, then were absorbed by RKK. The RN players have been together for around 6-7 years. AS well as EVE, we play BF2, CS:S, Hidden:S together on our own Vent server. Don't worry sir!! They couldn't hit an elephant at this ra..... |

Oblivion Systems had formed from 95% of the membership from a PA corp called DDNN. We broke away and wanted sometime to get the corp together and get some funds etc etc. OS didnt re-join PA straight after splitting away. I cant remember at what point the RKK war dec came. I thought it was just after we split (splat?) from DDNN.
And just because you didn't know what BoB stood for, doesn't mean we didnt, TH.

That would be Sturmgrenadier (SGHQ) who are now part of R I S E alliance. In Planetside (on the emerald server) they were known for pretty much going where they wanted and taking over the whole continent that they are attacking. Sort of like BoB in a lot of ways, especially in their organization and dicipline, which they carry over to EVE just as much but in fewer numbers than their PS portal.
Very honorable guys to the nth degree. No smacktalking, no forum whoring, just plain hard hitters. Hell, even BoB war decced them awhile back from what I have heard. Definetly guys you want on your side.

I will give Xrak right about, what he wrote. I also knew that Oblivion Systems derived from DDNN, whom were a part of PA, but after that had little love for them. Oblivion then joined FA, for a time. Furthermore, if Xrak said something wrong about what Bobs name meant, I am sure he was joking. Oblivon were well versed in the game of eve, and its politics to my knowledge. Furthermore, it would be strange, if they didnt know Bob, as I am pretty sure DDNN were part of GNW. _______________________________________

Ok, these notalgia threads are tough to avoid. As I think DBP pointed out, there is a great read on the BoB history. I also thought I would pop out of the wood work as I was in DDNN and Oblivion Systems as well. The RKK war dec came not too long after OS had formed and was getting reassembled down in the armpit of Eve space, also known as Aridia. OS rejoined the PA (let's face it OS was the entirity of DDNN minus Drake Dragon and Nikek Notlad). A little more fighting, mostly along side GODS for me since they were US timezone peeps and I made several good friends then and learned the fine are of losing ships and then later causing people to lose ships from our infamous enemys of the day, BoB. Anyway, it is a strange cycle of gaming that one time enemies of course are now the same pilots I proudly fight beside.
Some day I will have to do a comparison of a corp coming of age with that of an alliance because in many ways they are the same. The key of course is getting the right leaders in place early on for the group to have long term success, otherwise you just end up with endless changes of leadership that hinder the proper growth of any group.

GNW, 2004, wasn't eve a whole lot simpler back then. Not necessarily better but a lot simpler. No pos, very little tech2, and dual mwds/abs :)
