I plan on becoming an active member of a corp when i return mid next year and when that happens the ability to fly various Capital ships could become very useful.
I am currently trained in Gallente and Minmatar ships. Having no current experience at the Capital level i am looking for some advice. Would it be beneficial to train for Gallente and Minmatar Capital ships? I think that range is needed so all my blaster training is not going to be that useful (right?).
I guess my main questions are what is generally considered the most used / popular dreadnaught and carrier. Are lasers a big part of capital piloting due to POS bashing and ammo saving.
I have currently very good Core, Fitting, Drone and Tanking(shield/armor) skills all being maxed. Gunnery bonuses also at max. With most of the smaller ship types at 5 in the combat field. Currently working towards BS 5 for Gallente and Minmatar. I understand capital ships have a new set of skills i would need to work on with regards to guns and some tanking but i have a very good start. Am considering command ships also.
Any advice would be great. If you think Capital ships would be time wasted then feel free to suggest something else. I am just considering this option because before long i will have to start training amarr if i dont expand into bigger tiers.
Thanks Oprimo
Hello friend, you are asking two questions -- the first is whether it's worth training into a capital. Regular carriers aren't used that much in combat nowadays unless you are triage for your gang, which is a pretty specialized role (and in which case you should be in either an Archon or Chimera, depending on your fleet type). I've personally found them most useful for moving my ships around and for the occasional POS rep. As for dreads, they are almost exclusively used for POS bashing. So if that's what you want to do, go for it.
As for your second question, which carrier/dread to train for. Train whatever you are closest to (except if it's a Chimera, lol shield tank). Since you have a choice between Minmatar and Gallente carriers, I would go for Gallente since they have better tank. They also put out slightly more dps with fighters. With regards to dreads, Moroses are perfectly fine and I wouldn't cross train Amarr just to fly a Rev. In fact, Moroses are getting a gigantic buff with this upcoming patch and will be the best dread out of the lot so if you do train for dreads, you're already a step ahead 8) |
