They promote regionalism, reward prepreperation and active flying, and make 0.0 living possible for large numbers of people whom otherwise may just live in empire, or not even play Eve. So what is some pirate who can't jump to the other side of a gate misses a kill? Cry me a river. That one complainer's missed kill is not worth gutting the game. Even if instas were removed, that one guy won't be satisfied. He will probably just start whining about stabs or local, if he doesn't already.
There are some problems, Empire dwellers really do need a bubble that can pull people out of warp to gank. We can call it the Empire Bubble, only works in empire, and only pulls out corp/alliance/gang mates, and war targets.
Now about database lag, the act of copying bookmarks produces no lag, or rather, that the lag produced is suffered by the bookmark copier alone, since the priority on bookmark copying is so low that the bookmark copier will be waiting quite a long time for CPU time. The number of instas is a problem because they have to be stored in memory. maybe a 500 or 1000 bookmark limit is the answer. to limit the amount of harddrive space used on instas, or maybe different code for storing the bookmarks.
Instas have already contributed to gutting the game.
They've allowed a group of people who prefer arcade style gaming to come to EvE and prosper. EvE actually looked like a positive, hardcore and exciting game until CCP started to allow the arcady play to dominate - Im talking jump in traps, instas, logging off, lag traps, jump clones, carrier haulers, POS, soverienty, blobbing and such.
I knew it would happen eventually, as it does in all MMOG's but I thought it would be slower with EvE.
The end result we have groups of losers controlling 2/3rds of the galaxy and happy to gank in a big blob but the moment they are at risk they are using one of the lame ass tactics above to escape the game.
Removing instas gut the game my arse, removing them will restore some of its greatness and hopefully the 'people' who quit to go play Super Heroes Online or some crap will free up some resources for the rest of us.
Hey, if you don't like instas, then perhaps Tetris is more your speed? Failing that I might suggest Space invaders, or Pacman. Your position that your idea of how to play the game is definately the right one and everyone else can screw themselves makes me think the game would be better off without you. Not only that, you sound like a ****er. Go figure.
Lame is a word used only by the losers of this world. Others actually use their brains and figure out reality isnt so bad. I think you are emo, yes that must be it. Now go and put on your box framed glasses and studded belt and woman's jeans.
