correct. And whoever can be seen as best now, will most likely have been nerfed (or the competition boosted) 6 months down the line. Just fly what you enjoy.

Originally by: HippoKing Caldari are best with low SP. Minmatar are very good, but require the highest SP to be effective. Gallente own the win button in RMR, with medium-high SP, they will be most effective in most roles. Amarr blow, except in recons and command ships, neither of which are very nubbish at all.
umm, i agree that the amarr recons rock, but i think your forgetting the zealot tbh cause it rocks if u fit it right
comparative to the other HACs, it's nothing special.
Only 3 hac's im worried about when using a zealot, and thats vaga, isthar and cerberus.

any of the school stations (which sell skillbooks), and buy the appropriate skillbooks (just like you buy minmatar ones). Easy as that.

In other words, you are worried that each of the other races has a scarier HAC than you. That's the problem with the zealot IMO. It is a good ship, but for most things, I'd rather have a cerb, vaga or ishtar.

I can beat the isthar tbh. but if the pilot has really good skills i will run(and btw, i fly ishtars as well) the vaga is to fast and have to good res against the zealot. and i wont even begin to explain why i fear a faction fitted cerberus

As a newb, you will likely be doing lots of PvE stuff, so I would say: Caldari, Gallente, Amarr, Minmatar in that order. That said, the difference until you get to Battleships isn't that much. Likely a Caldari player will be able to do (not all!) level 4s solo before any other character, though that is not necessarily something you want to aim for. --- Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising up every time we fail. - Emerson |

Aye, if you got the hours, then Minmatar is the best in the long run. it's a long road, but it's worth it. ___________________________ -Hud-FireTech- |

Yes, but switching to a different weapon/tank type will be difficult until you have a lot of SPs under your belt because you won't be able to use T2 (in certain cases).

I would say any race is good for a starting character, i tryed the kessie just for fun, and found a rifter doing a better job. I could be a n00b caldari pilot so your result may be different (but imo rifter is one of the best frigs ingame). Punisher (amarr) has some nice bonus to tanking, so that may be the route to take if u want the edge in the beginning.
Minmatar aint l33t tbh, they just need a bucked load of sp to fly, which kinda makes the pilot l33t cuz of the huge amount of sp's. As been stated, up to BS minmatar are great imo, BS are iffy.. afaik domi is the only ship that can afk missions *hehe*
Anyway, hope your on your way to becomming a great Minmatar Asset *Yarr* ;o)

I'd suggest Caldari for the first few months. Then you can shift to Minmatar training (will already have the shield/missle stuff out of the way), and get rich flying your Raven while watching your skillpoints tick. It sounds like you are Matari at heart, so starting with them isn't a bad proposition... but don't underestimate the power of ISK. ISK = implants (faster skillpoints), faction mods (can put off some tech 2 training), and disposable ships (PvP at your leisure). There is no sugar daddy like Daddy Raven.

Amarr are quite nice. Minmatar if you are patient. Gallente if you like the prospect of drones and blasters. Caldari if you find yourself lacking in the creativity department.

Go with Caldari.
-They have the best combat starting stats in the game. -You start out in the most populated regions with the biggest markets. -You have access to both missiles for npcing, and soon Rails for pvping, and the best EW platforms in the game. -You only lack drones. On the plus side, your ships damage profiles are not designed to be dependent upon them. -Your avatar will always be ugly, and you won't feel bad about letting him die.

Well heres the run down of good pvp ships for a noob per race.
Caldari Frigs: Merlin and Kestrel
Minmatar Frigs: Breacher and Rifter
Gallente Frigs: Incursus and Tristan
Amar Frigs: Punisher
Crusiers-
Caldari: Caracal and Blackbird
Amar: Arbitrator and Maller
Minmatar: Stabber and Rupture
Gallente: Vexor and Thorax
From my personal experience the best way to go if your a noob is to train your sterotypical skill set for Gallente which focuses on Drones,Hybrids,Engineering and Mechanical skills primarily then to branch out and train you electronic warfare skills to a decent degree then finally go for Amar crusier skills.
This way you can fly the Thorax and Arbitrator which are the two best ships of their type which is kinda odd to be honest since gallente are supposed to be the lords of drones, yet the arbitrator is superior to the vexor.
This also helps in the long run since down the way your better prepaired to train for some of the best Recon crusiers in the game (Arazu,Pilgrim and Curse). So after your done with getting say Amar crusier 4 ((you can train it to 5 if you really want that last 10% to drone HP and Damage out of a Arbitrator)) you can go back to training your hybrid skills and working for a battleship to run missions with.
