topic title, do we get one jump clone as default, so infomorph psychology lvl 1 takes us from 1 JC to 2 JCs?
or at least, with infomorph psychology level 3, I have 3 max JCs, I create 3 and then jump to one of them, will my current clone be messed up or will the system replace the previously inactive clone with my current one? |

When you clone jump you leave your previous clone behind at the station you were at when you jumped. |

here's how it works,
you get ZERO Jumpclones prior to training Infomorph Psychology. Every level of Infomorph gets you one additional JC, to a maximum of five (at L5).
when you clone-jump, you leave your current clone behind, and you jump to where ever the other clone is. YOU CAN ONLY HAVE ONE JC IN A STATION AT A TIME -- so if you already have a clone at a station DO NOT clone jump out of that station. Best idea is to leave your clones 1 jump away from each other (assuming they're all for similar purpose).
For example, if you have a "training" clone (with L4 implants and stuff), and you live in Azer, you might keep the "PvP clone" (with L1 implants, maybe some gunnery or missile hardwirings) in Torvi or in Mosson even though there are four stations in Azer, just so you don't accidentally one of the clones. |

Be aware that there is a standings requirement for a jump clone as well. I think you need faction standings of 8.0 to be able to install a jump clone in one of their stations. Otherwise there are alliances that can provide JC services (for a fee) or, when you join a corp or alliance they may be able to provide jump clone facilities from an outpost or a clone vat bay (Rorq or supercap rqeuired).
Just training the skill does not get you a jump clone. The skill gives you the ability to acquire a clone through other avenues. |

Just wanted to point out that it's Corporation Standing of +8.00 and higher to access NPC Jump Clones, not Faction Standing.
To add a bit more info, keep your 'Medical' clone updated. After you jump from body with +4 implants into a jump clone with +1 implants and get podded, the 'Medical' clone becomes your body and the one with the +4 implants now becomes your jump clone.
Oh yeah, don't forget to upgrade your new basic 'Medical' clone to your appropriate skill point level.

I wrote a brief guide on this in an earlier post:

Basically you DO get one by default. Your pod is a Jump Clone, you just start without another one to jump to. Training Informorph Psychology adds to that to give a maximum of 6 when you reach level 5.
Although of course when you look at the Jump Clones available in your Character sheet, when choosing to make a jump you will only see a maximum of five because it makes no sense to offer the option of jumping to the one you are already in. |

There's also the 'poor-mans jump clone'.
Set your medical clone to the station you want to jump to and self-destruct your pod. This can be quite expensive as you have to re-buy another medical clone when you do this. And you lose your implants. Can be useful in certain situations though. Blacklight Incorporated: Recruiting now for PvP and Industry. |
