Mission briefing Your agent wants you to make 20 units of Cap Booster 25, in two batches: you'll need mexallon, pyerite, and tritanium to do the job. Again, it doesn't matter how you acquire them, though you might need to look outside your current solar system.
Helpful hint: Pyroxeres, Plagioclase, Jaspet and Hemorphite ores produce these three mineral types when reprocessed.
Here we go again ...... where and how do I find out where to mine these ores ?

Here's a little chart. Ore locations
I'm not big on mining so when I did those 'new' tutorials I simply flew to a trade hub and bought the ore I needed instead of mining it myself. If you are interested in mining though it's probably worth mining yourself.
Just curious ... have you done the exploration tutorials yet? lol

No not done the exploration tutorial yet because the beginning tutorials said it did not matter which tutorial you did first. Again bad instruction. Not sure what those charts mean but thanks anyway. |

it doesnt matter what order you do them in. No idea why the previous poster even brought it up.
the best way is to buy the ore from the market. as for the chart linked. It isnt too hard to read. the four quadrants are devided up in the four empires. so if you are in Amarr space and want to see what ores available you look in the upper left hand quadrant.
then the circles with numbers that is the system security rating. so if you look at kernite (use the key at the bottom to see what icon is kernite) you see it spawns in Amarr, Caldari and Minmatar space and in systems with a sec rating of 0.5-0.7. so if you are in a 0.8 or higher kernite wont spawn despite you being in Amarr space |

Why buy it when the tutorial is for mining ? Strange and again why does the tutorial not tell me to do this ? So sad this game is so vague with instructions it must lose so many potential players at the start because it is just too hard to learn.

The chart lists the ore you can mine in specific regions/security status.
The mineral chart at the bottom shows what minerals you can extract from the particular ores.
For instance you need Mexallon, Pyerite and Tritanium.
Mining Plagioclase will get you all three of those minerals. Find Plagioclase in 0.9-0.8 systems in Gallente/Minmatar space.
You would have to check the blueprints for specific amounts needed to create the cap boosters.
EDIT: Oh sorry to confuse you. I just asked about the exploration tutorials as those are the ones newer people usually have the most problems with. |

Yea the tutorials are kinda new and not all that great. There used to be none so I suppose they're somewhat useful.
True - However it's also the reason why everyone is 'usually' so helpful. Nobody just started EVE and took off to the top. Everyone started this game scared, clueless and diligently seeking help. It also holds a bit higher age bracket then most mmo's. |

Open up the star map and click around on different systems. You'll find one very close to your starting system. Alternatively you can just hop through a gate or two. You'll see what the security status is next to the system name. |

Once you find a 0.9 or 0.8 system then you just warp to any asteroid field in that system and you 'should' find plagioclasse mixed in with other ores.
Once you find a system just left click in space.. the asteroid belts will be labeled and listed. Just keep warping around to each one until you find some. *keep in mind the asteroid belts respawn after downtime I beleive so they may be pretty mined out but you'll find a belt eventually.
Shouldnt take long. |

1. Undock 2. Right click in space 3. Use asteroid belt drop down menu 4. Warp to an asteroid belt 5. Check overview for type of ore needed/wanted 6. If ore needed/wanted is not in belt return to step 2 (and choose a new belt) 7. If ore is in belt, target ore by holding alt and left clicking on target ore either in space or on overview 8. If ore you need/want is not in the system you're in, go to a new system and start again at step 2.
If that is too much for you to handle, go to station and buy the materials you need.
I would say fly safe, but it sounds like you're not flying at all. Get out of station and fly around a bit. Check out your surroundings. Warp to locations on your overview. Quit acting like this is a linear game, it isn't. You have to dive in head first and realize you may trip up a few times before you get it down.
The tutorials are just EVE Online's version of natural selection. Are you a lion or a gazelle?

Welcome to EVE.
From the looks of your questions, you expect that EVE holds your hand and guides you towards where everything is located etc.
Heads up, EVE isn't hand holding, EVE expects that you do some research on your own (or with friends, it's a MMO after all). Personal channel: Crazy Dutch Guy

WRONG.
It's not a mining tutorial, it's a industry tutorial, hence you are bulding someting, and industry can also mean you buy your resources. Personal channel: Crazy Dutch Guy

Really...
Sorry, but please. Basic tutorial 1 guides you how to navigate yourself in space.
Now, find a Gallente system that is of 0.8 or 0.9...voila.
Did you even read and understand the initial tutorials? I think you did as you moved from Cistu to Clellinon, so you should be able to find a system to mine in. Personal channel: Crazy Dutch Guy

Okay, close to calling you a biggest troll ever.
Guy above you already said you can find it in GAlletne space, so why ask if it's possible.
And you are NOT jumping around randomly if you use the map as he said, you look at the map for a system that suits your conditions....you go there, you mine the ores and you go back to where the agent is.
Please show me where there is jumping around at random in that. Personal channel: Crazy Dutch Guy

^ This.
Tutorials when I started...were non-existing...yet here are all those old people, still happily playing the game.
EVE is a sandbox, you get out of it what you put into it.
Now, for the OP, from the questions you have, I get the feeling that:
A. EVE might not be the game for you (you are expecting from a game a lot more guidance - I can't wait till you finished the tutorial and find out that you will have NO guidance anymore)
B. You might need a lot of 1 on 1 help, try to find people to help you in game (tip: Help Chat Reloaded - join that channel, it's basically a player-controlled (and less crowded) help chat).

Not being nasty, but... If you're having this much trouble with tutorials which tell you exactly what to do, how will you feel after the tutorials are finished when there is *no* guidance at all, no pointers on what to do next, no quests popping up, no NPCs you can go to and ask for how to get back onto the main story line, no direction that you don't choose yourself?
You've decided 3 times to quit, maybe do so and, if you like the idea of EVE, come back in a few months/few years. No shame in deciding that a game is not for you. If it's frustrating and not fun, don't force yourself to play. |

Because it's not a mining tutorial. It's the Industrial tutorial. Mining is part of industry, but only part. The large-scale manufacturers will usually buy most of their supplies from the market.
Quote:Strange and again why does the tutorial not tell me to do this ?
It tells you that it doesn't matter how you acquire the minerals, so it's entirely your choice if you mine it, buy it, steal it, etc.
That's fairly common in how EVE works. Given goals, not exact steps that must be taken. |

Just in case some newbee reads this topic:
1. plagioclase is not in 0.8 or safer space - it is in 0.7 or lower. You need to go to Raneilles from Clellinon to mine some. 2. exploration tutorial gives you some useless civilian amnalyzers, which can (and should) be reprocessed to get those minerals. 3. Proper way of doing the tutorial is to buy missing minerals, just like any real industry char would do. Mining your own ore is not main source of minerals for properly set industry account.

0.8 or lower.
It's not found in 0.9 or 1.0 security. When I mine (very occasionally now), I do so in a 0.8 system and there's plagioclast in the belts there.

Although the career agents don't really help to make that clear with their earlier mission to mine from a specific location. :-/

I have done the tutorials a few times over the years .. but there is no way for me to do them without all the knowlesdge i have accumulated .. so i really cant know what you are going through.
if its of any help .. i will say on my first day of playing i undocked and flew straight for 5 mins before figuring out how to do anything with my ship.
There is so much to learn in EvE .. it is a hugely complicated game .. but that is what makes it so rewarding.
It doesnt make sense now .. and each new tutorial is going to add new things and take you out of your almost non existant comfort zone... but thats the way of EvE ..
Keep asking questions, add the main eve Help channel, (if you dont know how then google the answer - get used to googling for info)
Do worry about jumping into other systems you can use your Assetts Button to find out where your "home" system is .. the one where you have your "stuff" for now.
The map is an amazing tool to show you all sorts of info .. from the Security Level of System, to ones with agents you can access, to pilots in space to how many ships got blown up. there are so many layers info .. you can spend a long time studying it . What you need to use it for now is (A) Security Level (to know where to go or what to avoid) (B) Station Services. So you know which has medical, repair, research etc..
When in doubt right click.
Dont give up because its hard. The tutorial doesnt so much show you how to do stuff .. as opposed to show you some of the things you can do, and in doing so get you to teach yourself how to do stuff.
Because EvE is as complex as it is .. the tutorial can not hold your hand too much .. it needs to begin to foster in the player a sense of having to research, ask questions, think, record, read, ask more questions and to just try stuff.
Eventuallly when you finish the tutorial i would suggest joining EvE University ,.. i think it would be a good place for you to start your EvE carreer off .. well structured training corp / alliance with years of experience and helping people find their way in EvE.. also there web site is an amazing resource .. find it and bookmark it sooner rather than later.
Good luck and dont give up .. the game being a challenge is a good thing .. History is the study of change. |

Well worded and great advice.
Too add to the last sentence, EVE is the first and only game so far that I play for 4 years straight...and still I'm never bored or came anywhere near a point where I thought: "Okay, I know it all now, I'm done."
That's the beauty of EVE in my opinion, it's hard (well, it starts extremely hard and then flattens out once you get to know the basics) but rewarding. And with CCP releasing even faster now, it's an ever changing landscape in the sandbox as well as you will be competing with and against other players, so you will never stop learning new tricks and mechanics.
