Just wondering if anyone can give me any ideas or suggestions about what kind of gallente ship and setup i should be going for if my main function is to setup cynosaural fields.
Any suggestions would be great.

The most efficient gallente ship for this kind of thing is the arazu with its role bonus;

does not work, no ship can use and fit simultaneously a cloak and a cyno generator.
Its either OR on recon ships. Most ppl use a cheap t1 frig with mwd + capbattery (or caprechargers) for travel and the lows filled with cargoexpanders and nanos (to get enough space for the 450 fuel - 180m3).
Or you could use an Industrial ship with afterburner and caprechargers- lowslots all nanofibers and cargospace full of fuel. You will need instas with this tho.

You sure about that? I thought you could fit both, just not use the cloak while generating the cynosural field?

U can fit a cyno gen and a cloak but just not use them at the same time.

Last time i checked the Arazu is a recon ship :)

Actually theres nothing stopping you fitting both, but if you do you can't use either at any time.

yes u can fit bith but u cannot cloak AT ALL if the cyno is on ship if active or deactivated
Its not a bug its a "feature" they say after they messed up with coding it :P

Ares would probably be a good choice, fast, cheap. Downside is a bit low cargospace. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

seriously, the way it is right now (and even if they do fix the recon ship bonus) you're better off training minmatar frigate lvl3 and using a probe.
arazu in hostile territory (where the speedy deployment of cyno fields and a cloak to get in there are invaluable) drops a cyno field, titan jumps in and wtfpwns everyone in sight
real world scenario: arazu just scrapes past an interdictor spehere dropped when he jumped into system, gets to a safespot and deploys the cyno. cap ship jumps in and immediatley warps to another SS leaving an arazu (100+ million dollar ship) with a covert ops cloak (45million isk investment), T2 modules (10-20 million), maybe a faction disruptor (60-130 million isk) UNCLOAKED, IMMOBILE and DEFENSELESS for 5 minutes. enough time for a hostile fleet to warp in 50 bantams (goonfleet) with 50 warp disruptors and 50 missile lauchers and sit there for a further 4 minutes, at 200m from your ship (unable then to cloak when the cyno effect wears off) and then blows up your 300 million isk investment in a few minutes.
get a probe, nice fat cargo hold, fit an MWD and nanofibers to fly around 0.0 space and laugh as you get more money than you spent when it blows up via insurance.

you also have to take the time the cyno is up for which is where the recon bonous come in and helps alot. Also if you have ECM you can jam to try to get away.
Ontop of all this the bonous to cyno fuel can help incase of any complications in any jumps which can happen.
True cost wise if you do loose it thats a big hit though!

see problem with trying to form any counter to being caught in an arazu/recon ship is that once you announce your presence in hostile territory, they have 5 whole minutes to figure out how to kill you... I dont think 2 multispecs are going to help...
only way I'de use a recon ship is when jumping a carrier around friendly territory or when said hostile territory is already secured and you're brining dreads in for pos bashing.
in both cases, the need for being covert is eliminated by being in a pocket of friendly territory. solution? let the recon ship (and ONLY recon ships) have a "bonus" that removes the 0m/s speed limit (and to make it fair, make the ship targetable)

I use an Augoror, it has a good cargo capacity and it's energy transfer bonus is very usefull for recharging the capital ship's cap so it can jump again faster.

I would have to agree with the blockade runner idea- couldn't it hold enough fuel for multiple jumps, as well as having the necessary CPU for both a cloak and a cyno generator?

YOU CANNOT ACTIVATE CLOAK OR CYNO AT ANY TIME WHEN THE OTHER MODULE IS ON THE SHIP. YOU CAN HAVE BOTH FITTED BUT NEITHER WILL WORK AT ALL.
It is a broken game mechanic that whould be fixed with kali hopefully.

lol no your not reading it, it says you cant use any of them, when both are fited you can offline either of them and still cant use it, so the point is the only thing you can do is fit them and fly around with them in the high slots but cant use either, regardless if one or the other is active of offline
you think that doesnt need to be fixed?

Since you suggested gallente, i'd say the imicus is quite good at that role, few skills requirements, large cargo hold, and is quite cheap so no problems about getting it blown up.

First time I used it on my arazu. I was able to cloak ..uncloak and deploy cyno.. After that It never worked again.
Whether its online or offline, I keep getting same message along the lines of cyno present unable to activate cloak.
P.S. Has anyone else had problems targeting a cyno generating ship? As in not allowing you to lock?

Clarification:
You can fit Cloak and Cynofield at the same time. But only one of them will work. Both times I tested, cloak didnt work only Cyno.

IF you fit both cloak AND cyno THEN the cloak will NOT work
nothing more, nothing less.
there is one odd side effect tho. haven't tested it recently and havent tested it extensively at all nor exploited it yet, but...
if you have a cloak fitted and create a cyno field close(docking range) to a station then you can dock before the 10/5 minute period is over. which then leads to having some kind of "perma cyno" in that system.
seems like you can use that cyno forever(til next downtime?) as long as the creating character is still in the system(and in space?). deffo some kind of bug which will be fixed anytime soon so i couldnt be arsed testing more in the little time i have to play atm. feel free to test and contribute whatever you find out.
