Again, not having played yet, I can't comment on the cards themselves. But, basic card game theory dictates that you almost never go above the minimum deck size; decide which cards are the *best* in your deck (even though there are a lot of good ones, some will be better than others). Play 4x each of that card, or slightly less if they're cards that are less generally useful (or at the moment, if you dont have 4 of them!).

Dunno on that, iirc MTG min size was 50 max was 60, it was rare that I would come accross a deck smaller than 60.

MTG min size is 60, and you dont see anything else at serious tournaments :P, no point in watering down the chance to top deck right card at right time :)

Every WoTC tourny I've seen for MTG had only 60 card decks.

Min MTG deck size now is 60, used to be 40, until that just got too efficient.
2 over minimum size is usually possible, but anything more than that causes inefficiency, which is bad.
Also: Ship Computer Glitch is Caldari-only. Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand, strawberries in the oth |

As they said, it was 60, for the majority of it's lifespan, and it still is now.
Although, regardless of what people played in their decks and when, to be as efficient as possible a deck should be minimum size. You have to increase the chances of drawing the cards you need at any given time, and this is one way of doing this.
I'll write some articles on deckbuilding soon. As soon as I have cards, that is.

*COUGH* *COUGH*
How about a little disscussion over the actual contents of the deck rather than the deck size?

I don't have the cards here, but I seem to remember Remnant of Vak'Atioth as a Minmatar card? Could totally be wrong.
And one of the reasons people talk deck size and card occurance(term?), Evil, is probably that with so many different cards in the deck, its hard to see an idea or strategy in it - hence hard to make specific ideas to improvement beyond that.
I would like to hear what you are hoping/trying to do with it?

Well atm, I'm still working on tactics as I'm pretty new to this.
Stain and Lonetrek are pivatil to to the deck. Being able to secure those to regoins quickly will see me gaining more ISK quickly, while disabling my oppoents ability to generate much ISK.
The regoins are mainly ones that can be played at home, so I wouldn't need to rely on the outer territories to generate ISK, but they would help. Lonetrek enables me to pump out smaller ships quickly, hopefully enabling me to rush my opponent before he can save up an amount of ISK.
The celestis ships can also potentially generate alot of ISK as with their trade ability, they pull in 4 ISK each a turn.
Network Access is a great card for the deck too, as each time my opponent wants to play a new card, he has to pay an extra 4 ISK, which goes direct to me.
I think I need to increase the deck size to 60 and try get my hands on a couple more dmg controls.
My starbase upgrade is also used to tap a little ISK from his wallet and the news cards are a spread of defence and attack. Some cards used to remove ships from the playing field, removing starbase structures and coutering news cards.
Nate.

Edited by: Trak Cranker on 08/08/2006 20:02:52 Just checked, and yes, Remnant of Vak'Atioth is a Minmatar only card. You can't have that in a Gallente starbase deck.

I didn't realise news cards could be race specific... pity.

At first glance you have not enough ships and abit to much news.
Only time will tell what ratio will be ideal but if you have news in your hand but no ships you get smashed around anyway.
And another deck building thing: Try avoiding alot of single cards. Its very hard to tweak your deck afterwards if you aloways have diffrent draws.
