Remember when you'd warp to a super safe in a pod? Took damn near 30-40 minutes to come out of warp.

I remember doing this once and just logging off in despair, thinking I'd never come out of warp.
Something else they got rid of was mission spots where multiple people would have to go for their missions... Needless to say they got camped. IIRC Aunenen had one... before all this untrackable deadspace crap.

that blue scanner was great, you could see what was behind you without looking. You could stay zoomed in on your ship while the scanner acted as an overall view of the battlefield.
Then they removed it.... :'( -------------------------------------

It was a dot, you couldn't tell what kind of ship it was, exactly how far it was from you, or if it was moving. The new tactical overview is better, but it causes more lag.
Remember the lag in the GNW? 300 ships on the battlefield, 2-3 second mod lag.

MWD's
Used to be able to throw on a couple of MWD's on a ship and go stupid speeds. Before my time you were able to put up to 8 MWD's on a scorp and go a couple of AU a sec. You'd have allot of duel MWD ravens flying about that were just about unkillable.
The cap penalty made it impossible to even activate all 8.
The cap penalty wasn't working at launch at least not for the named ones. -------------------------------------------

Cruise missiles on kestrels... been mentioned before but a link for a vid http://uk.wrs.yahoo.com/_ylt=A9ibyjj4DNpEiYIBtp1LBQx.;_ylu=X3oDMTE3cGdxa2tpBGNvbG8DZQRsA1dTMQRwb3MDMQRzZWMDc3IEdnRpZANVS0MwMDJfMg--/SIG=126osl40o/EXP=1155227256/**http%3a//ccp.vo.llnwd.net/o2/video/5/Kestrelfast.wmv
1 volleying a scorp. :)
when once u were aligning for warp u couldnt be locked, so with instas u were 100% safe, no bubbles, no interdictors, and once through the gate when aligning u were unlockable...
Blackbird with 1 of each racial could jam any cruiser. throw on a multi as well and it could jam any battleship. :)
Jumping into a system u didnt jump in cloaked.. if it was camped, u wolk up at your clone vat..
Changed that so u jumped into system in middle of space... same problem, they camped the jump in point (JIP camping) .. but the gates were safe. :)
a full rack of 720mm arties on a rupture could 2 volley a tier 2 cruiser. :)
Missiles didnt intercept, they chased, and were much slower... u could orbit a raven at 19km scrambling it and it couldnt hit u as missiles were all behind u. :)
Being able to LOCK missiles.. i remember being in a range fitted rifter defending a scorpian from missiles by locking and shooting them... who needed defenders in them days. :)
Scramblers had much longer cycle times... if i recall correctly the 7.5k one had a cycle time of 25 seconds.. u could dive in, scramble then leg it out to past webber range and be safe again. once it cycled off go in again, momentum made u invunerable to webbers. :)
To make money was a major hassle. Losing a merlin was a disaster in your first month or so.
When refining if u refined a ship all fitted modules got refined with it. i lost a fully named fitted stabber doing that by mistake.. and in them days that was mega money. :) Incase u wondered the modules come off the ship now and u just lose the ship. :)
u couldnt stop warping, so if u got tangled up on a station u were stuck till u warped. even worse on a roid, they fixed being able to lock people when aligning, so NPC could shoot u, but u couldnt stop warp to move yourself off the roid. :)
The funniest patch which has been mentioned was the harder NPCs in belts one. so many battleship pilots coming back in exploded peices.. :)
missiles hitting objects in the way... Firing at a target behind a non target in an empire war and the missiles hit the non target, u got concorded... :)
So many.. Food time.. :)

Man I miss that, when did the weekly/bi-weekly patches stop?
Stopped when CCP started working on Exodus. I think it really happened for 2 reasons:
a) subscriber base got larger = more people to distribute the patch to, and b) game got MUCH larger, which means each patch need a lot more QA before being released. Remember, when there was regular patches, there was only 5 classes of ships in the game (frig, cruiser, BS, indy, and inty). That was also before POSs and outposts and complexes and all that stuff. Thus, more stuff in game = more testing needed to make sure a change isn't going to break something. ----------

Geeze, I forgot all about the donut indicator around targetted ships, that thing was pretty useful at times.
What about the original market interface, which would show you graphically all the high and low prices on the market on a starmap? Buy at the bright green, sell at the bright red (or was it the other way around?). Missles used to be hard to use, but they also used to be a lot more powerful as well.
What about the old jump-in points where everybody came to the same spot in the middle of nowhere, and it was camped all the time with NO way out. You didn't come in cloaked then either. Just you, a few hundred cans to cause lag, and the battleships waiting for you.
Gate rats used to be a LOT more aggressive, they really came after you pretty strong, and were a lot more common on the gates too.
And the best part.... insurance was only for a few days and cost more. Nobody used it, because it ran out too fast. Dying then REALLY hurt.
