It is clearly a space ghost, come to reap the souls of your crew.
...Or a passing freighter just ejected their biological waste storage a little too close to the gate. Either way you probably want to steer clear of it. |

That's on the Dammalin gate (I think?). It was put there on purpose. I believe there is lore about it too regarding Amarrian slave traders.
