My understanding is that CEOs and directors can spy on your hanger whenever they feel like it. Is that right? Either that or someone did a first class job of yanking my chain.
It really kind of irritates me. You already know they are stealing the tax money and stealing minerals from the mining operations. We should be the ones who can look into their hangers, not the other way around.
AFAIK they can just put audit logs on the corp hanger if they want to track who has which bits of garbage from the corp hanger. If I've got a pile of expensive stuff, I shouldn't have to put up with drama about what I should or should not be doing with my stuff because they felt like nosing around.
Next thing you know they will want to see what in your anchored cans and logs of your refinery use at stations. |

They only can in stations where there is a corp hangar and if you put your stuff in a container they cant see the stuff.
Btw, if you feel that "they" are stealing the tax money and minerals and such I do not understand what you are still doing in such a corp.

Tbh, if you feel that strongly against it, maybe you should join a corp in whcih you trust the people? The reason why they can look into your hanger, is not necessarily to spy on you, it's so that they can put things in it for you.

Edited by: Whiskey Leech on 08/08/2006 12:33:44 Yes, CEO, directors and people with certain role can check all members hangers, but only if they have an office in that station.
Personally I think its a great feature since it also allows you to dump of someting in a corpmembers hanger, instead of fiddling with escrow. In a former corp, all full members had the role to look in each others hangars, and give stuff to corp members that way.
Anchored can content can easily be dicovered with a cargo scanner.
If you dont like the rules in youre current corp, go find another. Or create youre own with any rules you like.

EVE doesn't exactly have any game mechanics which encourage you to join corps full of people you like. It does however have lots of game mechanics which encourage you to join corps full of people you might not like (0.0 stuff mostly).
Luckily for the OP all he needs is a secure canister.

Seems to me you have a problem with the corp you are in rather than the game mechanics. You should probably think about joining another corp, one that you feel that you can trust.

If your level of trust in your CEO is a major issue, I'd suggest you may want to re-think the corp you're in.
That said, for privacy, place the items inside station warehouses (or any container), and they will be hidden. Someone viewing your hangar will just see a bunch of containers, of which they can't inspect the contents.

So...profitable business not following corp rules is it? My bet is you have a policy of "All unused modules to be placed in Corp Hangar", "All junk modules to be refined by corp", and you just don't like it, keep all your modules and do all your own refines, to fatten out your own wallet.

1) It's a lot about trust. If you don't trust your CEO, you are definitely in the wrong corp. 2) audit log containers don't show a log entry, if someone takes something out of the container (except it has been fixed in the meantime )

I had a similar situation a while back. Joined a corp that was communal with the mods and such, and as a miner I was to mine one can a night for the corp if I could. So, I'd mine my corp can, then mine my own stuff, and dump the mods that I didn't need into the corp can. Seemed to me I was followig the rules.
The corp also had a policy of buying its mems ships, but since there was never anyone on to do so for me I'd bought and fit a Cyclone and a Retriever myself, so at this point I'd done nothing but add to the corp wallet for a week or so. Then my CEO scans my hangar, and gets up in arms about the mins I've stocked for myself to replenish my wallet since some of the corp had taken to lower sec mining, were losing ships left and right and the corp was pretty much broke. Ya, that was the last straw, I bounced that day.
Sidenote- He tried to convice my local friends that I was a Pirate and that they should pod me. What a convo that was

Well TBH while I think the OP is being kinda paranoid about it, your mods are your mods...
Your a corp mbr not a serf that depends on corp resources for everything.
Granted I do donate to corp quite a lot and yes I do my own refines, anything found on corp ops goes to the corp anything mined on corp ops goes to the corp.
Mind you all of our senior corp mbrs are self supporting as well as chipping in for corp resourses when required.
To the OP if corp rules are getting annoying then just leave the corp if you are unable to abide by them. ========= "I am not saying there should be capital punishment for stupidity, but why can`t we just take the safety labels off everything and let the problem fix its self |

Like everyone said if you don't trust your CEO leave. One of my first corps I felt like the CEO and his friend were using its members. He pretty much was never around and always talked about how he had carriers pre-ordered. He seemed to be using the corp to sponsor him or one of his mains. Also when someone in the corp was attacked it was ignored even though we were supposed to be a PvP corp.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ best post in this thread really.
let them look
hide your stuff in a hauler hide your stuff in secure cans hide your stuff and others will wonder what you are hiding...
If the CEO doesnt allow others to take from corp hangers, then you can't steal, if they do, then they acknowledge that you can take it all if you so see fit. Theft, maybe, honest, maybe not, but community hangers carry that risk, so do not put into one what you do not want to be removed (stolen).
(you can buy and assemble a ship without having to be able to pilot it, thus making for a big storage can others can not see into while docked)

Well, it is my experience that people with your attitude are generally people that cannot be trusted themselves. I trust my CEO not to look into my hangar unless he or she feels it is neccessary.
If you're with a corp that has a CEO you don't trust, you'd better leave.

It boils down to this. If *I* say I don't have enough money to do something, then that is the bottom line.
If someone wants to snoop around my hanger and formulate the opinion that they think I'm not cash strapped and poor, they can stick it, because they don't know what my financial obligations and plans are.
Putting stuff in containers should work, as moving is a problem since they have offices in all the outposts. |

Yes they can look in yuor hanger only if there is a corp hanger there.
If there is tax they can also determine if you have been doing missions or npcing by looking at the corp journal under wallet and see everything you've been killing while claiming to be afk when your supposed to be on a pvp op.

The voice of experiance there? :)
Man, If your Corp Senior members are doing 1 of those things you named, I have to admit that you probally deserve it if you stick in a corp like that.
I can name at least one corp, which means there HAS to be others, that let you more or less freelance. My corp has very few rules, and since we are miner/manufacturers, pay our members using shares. We have corp community chests, sure, paid for with corp funds and its asked that members replace something they take, or at least make a deposit when they take (ie you take out 10k med ammo, Replace it with a few mods or something).
I have the ability to look in my employee's hangers, yea sure, but I have no reason to. I'm not that nosey.
The way I see it, If your in a situation where you feel you can't trust members to leave your stuff alone, EVEN WHEN THEY CAN TAKE IT, than your in a bad situation.
For example, our POS is set up with a large number of Corp hanger arrays, Members "claim" a division for themselves, and use that to store their items in. Noone takes from anothers, And all ships are marked with their name, and left alone in the maintinace arrays.
Your corp may just be to big for you, look into a smaller "mom and pop" corp, rather than a Goon-Fleet style corp

So what is your actual point? from what i've read none of your directors or your CEO has even said anything to you about your financial state or as far as you know, even looked into your hanger. The fact that you are even whining about this suggests that you plan to bull**** your way out of corp events or helping out your fellow corp members, and quite frankly i think what youve said about your CEO and Directors is utter rubbish, and you just dont know what goes into running a corp, have you any proof of them stealing? as you havent said anything to suggest you have.
As a CEO i have looked into all the corp members hangers when the circumstances have required it and i'm sure your CEO would be the same, just because they have the ability to do it doesnt mean they are doing something sinister.
If that is your attitude though i suggest you either set up your own corp or go back to a noob corp where there is no CEO and directors.

Big corps tend to run a tight ship, keep tight security and demand a lot of their members in terms of activity and participation. That's why they remain big corps. Many players like this professional, demanding approach.
Other, smaller, not-so-political corps do things completely differently and give all trusted members equal say and equal rights whilst retaining little in the way of corp assets. This allows for more individual ownership of assets and more freedom. Many players like this more laid back approach too.
Bottom line is, if you don't like your corp and their style, you can leave.
