Hopefully i posted this in the right place.
Anyway, ill just cut to the chase. One day i was in cistuvaert, and in local i see sollit dude talking about how there are 5 titans in eve. Being the helpful guy i am, i correct him, and thanks to his ignorance, a bet is made.

PS. I was joking about the alliance humiliation thing, if that wasnt apparent enough.
So the next day, i convo him, and surprise- im blocked! I evemail valitar and he confirms that he has been blocked by sollit dude too. Strange how when he loses his bet, we are unable to contact him. I guess ill have to wait for Distant Star Alliance to wardec my 6 man corp, because his alliance can kick my corps ass!
Today i convo'd him with my sad sad alt, emokarsk. Here's what followed.

What i didnt screenshot was some more random smacktalk to newbies and others in local, this guy is pretty immature.
Did i honestly expect to ever get payed 200m if i won the bet? No. However, i knew that if i lost the bet, he would press me to pay him, and guess what, i would- because i honor my word, as my word is my bond. Obviously, in eve where scamming and such is a common thing, this is a relatively small issue. However, reducing yourself to a lying smacktalker, who's alliance can apparently kick my alliances ass, is simply not cool. I like holding people to their promises, and look forward to sollit dudes reply in this thread.

Also, one (or more?) of the images hasn't been editted to hide your channels.

Uh why? I bet him that there were not 5 dreads in eve. Not that there were 1, or 2, or 20.
Editing my channels shouldnt matter, as the original context of the bet is still displayed without any changes. Those were my old corps private channels which i could show everyone, but i see no real reason to.
Edit: Also, i say that it's rumored that bob has one.

He didn't lose yet exactly, nobody knows the exact number of titans in the game.

its a bet that neither party can win. afaik there isnt any way u can confirm or deny the quantity of titans in the game. I sure if CCP announced who had a titan there would be consequences (spying etc.. ) the bpo for a ragnarok has been available for quite some time & titan skillbooks are available. Im suprised that there hasnt been loads of talk about titans as the only problem/difficulty i see is Capital ships V.

Are you saying that for example, the Gallente Titan is flying around in secure space? (they can not enter empire space you know) or are they in 0.0?
Are they plaver controlled or is a huge titan orbiting some gate somewhear along with the normal gate securety forces?
and lastly - if a Jovian Titan - controlled by an NPC, is hanging around somewhear in jove space (where no player can go) and it is cloaked all the time - is it really in the game then? :p

I think that its reasonably obvious that we were talking about player owned titans... Those didnt exactly get 'built' they were just spawned.
Example: If you were to count the number of Battleships in the game, you wouldnt count each of those dual serpentis spawns in belts, would you?

So yesterday i evemailed him with yet another one of my mysterious alts, however, this time i did not reveal that i was arkarsk. I asked him for 'his side' of the story via evemail.
This is what he replied with:

On the subject of Titans (and if any are in game) I can only see them being used as a way to jump a fleet through several systems (by bridging or whatever it's called) and of course, that lovely remote doomsday device activation
Any alliance that announces that it has a Titan and can prove it, will likeley get steam rollered by BoB (like the guys with their Cap ship production system a while back). BoB likes being the biggest kid in the playground, and intends to keep it that way. Unless of course BoB already has a Titan, but even then, there is only hearsay, no one outside of BoB has seen it (if it exists), and BoB haven't used it on anyone else, or else someone would be posting here with screenshots of a sea of pods after the doomsday device did it's work.

I was away for two weeks, so sorry for my delayed response. As for the authenticity of the screenshots, I was there for the whole convo/argument betweem arkarsk and sollit dude (chiming in when I felt it was necessary )and what he arkarsk posted is exactly what happened. I think that sollit dude should pay up, since arkarsk was sure that there weren't 5 titans and if sollit dude had proven him wrong, he would have payed. |
