Any advice for a newly de-trialled player looking for their first big boat?
After advice from other players, skipped Destroyers entirely and trained for cruisers.
Race is Minmatar and sticking with it: gravitating towards a Stabber more than a Bellicose but willing to take advice
So what do I need to get hold of, other than a big chest o'iskies to pay for this lot?

The Rupture is a great Minmatar cruiser. About the ISK thing, I want to say just do missions in your friggy (not what I did, but it works). It will get you rich later on in the game. You could try joining a carebear-ish corp and ask them for some financial help or running complexes and stuff. Get together with some freinds and run a complex. After that, sell the Overseer's Aspects that you find. Also, killing and looting rats in 0.4-0.1 could work, but be weary that a newbie is the belt pirate's favourite target.

Rupture through and through. It is the most expensive cruiser but the stabber is very niche and the bellicose fits into a support role more than anything else.
I suggest you take a trip to the scrapheap challenge forums and spend a few hours reading through the existing posts. Scrapheap challenge is the forum hang out of choice for the dedicated minmatar duct tape and rust fan.

I see no reason why not to go for the cheaper Stabber at first - later you'll know that rupture is more versatile, but stabber isn't bad at all...

Rupture or Stabber. Rupture is quite versatile, and makes a good arty platform. Stabber is like a frigate, but a bit bigger and with a bit more firepower (and IMO is best with autocannons)
If you want to mine, Scythe. Bellicose is not a good idea. It's a 'special' ship (in many senses of the word) and so really should be avoided unless you're sure of why you're flying it.

Rupture Rupture Rupture! Great little ship it is. I named mine the Senco FX-2000 Framepro (Because it looks like a staple gun). Great artillery platform (with little tank if setup that way, but who cares you are hitting from +80km! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Win a Cynabal for 10ml!!! |
