Ok, quick question.....
The Strip Miner says 540 Ore Units per cycle per miner.
The Modulated Strip miner says 360 Ore Units per miner, and another 360 per crystal.
My question is this, what if I use the Modulated Strip II without mining crystals, is it worse then the basic strip miner in terms of yield?
Also, how do you determine the actual amount of Ore per cycle? Multiply the ore per cycle by the type of Ore at the m3 level? _________________________

strip miner I outdoes Strip miner II w/o crystals, So if your going at it and don't know what your gonna be mining, Bring the SMIs
As for Mining yeild...
Mining Yeild Per Cycle / m3 that the ore takes up.

It's not actually "another" 360 ore units if you have the appropriate crystal fitted. You get 360 ore units if the wrong crystal is used, and you get 585 ore units (360 * 1.625) with the proper T1 crystal or 630 units (360 * 1.75) with the T2 crystal.

Edited by: Dylan McKai on 10/08/2006 10:19:28 No, it is 360 + (360 * 1.625) = 945 (then multiply by your ship, skill, gang, mining upgrade or implant bonuses to yield.)

Or alternatively, always bring enough crystals for all oretypes, that way you're never out of luck. A barge's cargo bay can easily hold them, you prolly only have to stagger the lasers a bit.

Or leave the crystals in your jetcan whilst mining.

If this was true, a Retriever pilot, even with the bare minimum skills (Mining V, Astrogeology IV, Mining Barge III), would have a yield of over 1500 ore units per MSM II cycle using T1 crystals, which quite obviously is not the case. Even using T2 crystals and a mining upgrade, my Retriever only pulls some 1080 ore per miner, which is perfectly in line with the numbers. (360 * 1.75 * 1.25 * 1.2 * 1.09 * 1.05 = 1081.5525)

We can only wish. :)
