I think the main idea is to get new German players who didn't play because they didn't have an German EVE version and didn't wish to play an English one, to start playing. Not to have existing German players switch to German, though you are welcome to if you wish of course.

I wonder why nobody's thought to ask yet but here goes:
Will ISD continue to delete posts written in any other language than English even if those posting, having been drawn into EVE by virtue of a localized client, are unable to comminucate in any language other than their own?
Can we expect to see additional forum sections or new language-specific forum sites mirroring the existing structure in another language?
Or is the plan simply to get more short-term income and then disreegard customer needs in CCP's customary fashion? |

Wondered that myself. I you attract german players not able to speak english, you will also attract german whining and german petitioning. Without german customer support CCP will get rather negative feedback, I fear. But they surely know this and will provide german support then. Right?

You get no income from 14day trials. As the german credo nowadays is "Geiz ist geil", I don't expect many to sign up right away. I know more Germans playing Asian MMOs like Silkroad just because they are free than I know people paying for WoW.

You will attract hordes of 13 year old German kiddies with this... you dont want this. EBay sales will go up exponentially with growing number of Germans in this game :P ---

You have to be 18 to joind ebay?
And I really doubt that they will attract many kids, most play WoW if they have to money to pay for a game.

I think this will be divisive, corps and alliances may split up and fight along RL political lines...
Will be interesting to see...

I don't want to put any of the volunteers down, but with the translation as I am seeing it on Sisi right now, Eve will be remembered as "the game with the German translation which made machine-translated Taiwanese manuals look like Goethe". This is especially true for module descriptions, but there are also numerous errors in the main menus of the game, inconsistencies between different windows, a lot of split words that are not allowed to be separated by German grammar rules, and so forth.
Is it possible to get a list of the terms used with their English equivalents? I submitted a number of bug reports, but going through all the menus and fields is simply too time consuming.

Anyway, I doubt many German players will use the German UI:
1. they are already used to the English one 2. it is good to learn English
But it may help new players. However there is a danger that they won't be able to interact with anoybody outside the German EVE community.
signed, exactly my reasons, but still there are some people i know in RL that said "but its in english and i dont get english that well" cause of that they didnt wanted to play it

Will there be proper support for players that got a problem we can't solve in the german help channel? You will have a lot german petitions then and you will have to be able to actually talk to them in german or hell will break loose.

Again, I didn't bother checking out what I knew had to be crap on Sisi, but are you suggesting these volunteers did the translation without creating a glossary???
