Every other game works amazingly well.
Splinter Cell is just gorgeous.

Josh, I had the same problem for a month and couldn't figure it out.
I removed the splash screen and EULA from loading which left only the login screen to load which told me it had to do with Eve connecting to the server. Since Eve startup froze my computer I couldn't troubleshoot any further.
After installation Eve would load my browser and it wouldn't do anything. As I was trying to troubleshoot it after about 5 minutes It finally loaded. I tried starting up Eve and it loaded!!! :)
Something got corrupted later though and I had to reinstall Eve again. I did the same thing I did before and it worked!!! :)

What's the solution then?

Try reinstalling Eve and when Eve loads your browser and it appears to be not responding let it continue to load til it does.
It took 5 minutes on my computer. My CDROM and hard drive were stuck once in cycles but it still finally loaded. I was then able to load eve without it freezing.
When Eve loads your browser after installation and the login screen at startup they both are connecting to the account management page.

I had the same problems with my new ASUS V9950/ULTRA/TD GEFORCE FX 5900 256MB card, and the only way to play EVE for me was to turn sound acceleration of in DirectX.
Only game so far that can't have that on for me, they need to fix that soon as the sound is bad now :(

I found a spare monitor kicking about, so I plugged it into the digital output for the 9800 Pro and got it all setup and running in Windows just fine...
After trying various solutions to get it to work in EVE (which is what I originally wanted to do anyway), I realised that they hadn't actually put in proper support for it - or at least not support that actually worked, so I turned the computer off and unplugged the second monitor.
Now, EVE hangs my system completely each time it loads at the splash screen... I've reset all the graphics settings, reinstalled the drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled EVE, and still hangs... what the HELL is wrong here? :( ================

Josh, in response to your unanswered question, as a System builder doing highend systems one of the tried and true boards of Late that I've had great success with is ASUS's A7N8X-Deluxe, this use the new nForce 2 Chipset and it rocks has good features and have had no mishaps useing ATI (my prefered Video) unlike the first gen nforce chip that really had issues with ati, as for Gaming OS'es I still use and recommend WIN 98 of all the Gaming systems I've built for clients the support calls are much great for those that have insisted on XP, honestly with the cost of systems build a low end office system to run xp and office apps for games stay with 98...
the views and opinions are my own based on knowledge and experiance in my profession, this does not mean that anyone else's is less or more valued Chief Security Officer - Kusari Systems
