This is for anyone who doesn't already know by now, the uk police are saying they've disrupted a major terror attack to set up bombs on 10+ planes leaving from uk airports.
I have a friend with his missus and their 1-year old son due to arrive back from Dubai today, and another friend's parents who are supposed to be flying out to Canada. Looks like Heathrow and Gatwick have cancelled all planes atm.

Sounds like they were going to use a chemical weapon of some sorts on a flight from England to the U.S.

Good thing, the police was on them before they did any dmg. 21-22 ppl are arrested according to news agencies. According to some expetrs the attack may have something to do with 22-nd of August.

I posted this in Gen Discussion but it got pwnd, so just to let people know not to crosspost 
It looks like no luggage is being allowed on either (bbc has a detailed list), especially liauids (baby milk unless atsted in front of security, contact lens fluid, liquid medication etc). Maybe they'd been tipped that the agent would be in liquid form?
Also no electrical stuff allowed on (obviously) even car keys or "whistle-to-find-me" keyrings.
My thoughts go out to the poor people who are stuck with no idea when they travel, but I'm sure they'd prefer this to being a name on a memorial. I know I would (and I'm due to fly to Ibiza on 9/11  )

i flew back into heathrow from dusseldorf on monday.. they made me unpack my tent to check that my tentpegs werent sharpened.. when they saw that they werent they said it was fine to take as hand luggage. i told them that was retarded because if i wanted to i could still stab someone in the head with them and they took them off me :(
they then made me pull all the cotton wool out of my zippo 
airport staff have just gone into my hated people list under bailiffs and bouncers.

It looks like that if the plane was in the air before theyt cancelled flights coming in at some of the airports they are still allowing them to land. I wonder how they are going to stop hand luggage if you have already checked in and are at a gate waiting to board.

They'll make you check it, just like they always have done if you had hand luggage that wasn't permitted.

No, I'd still think it was retarded that they confiscate sharp tent poles but don't mind me being stabbed in the head by a blunt one.

you were allowed to take that zippo on board at all
i had to strip down to my pink panties and socks and hand in the zippo so it could be locked away during flight or something (not that smoking was allowed anyway)

on topic though...... yes airports. it does all seem a bit ott when it comes to security. heres a funny fact- in australia its illegal to take a boomerang on board because theyre considered lethal weapons and they take them off you at customs. but then you can buy them duty free on the other side and put them in your hand luggage

The people I feel sorriest for in all this are the security staff - specifically, the ones who have to inspect people's shoes.
Think about it. Hundreds of people who've driven miles in hot cars and have been shuffling slowly round an airport for hours getting tired, angry, and sweaty...
...that's gonna get grim, isn't it?

Oh please i bet you aren't even *** yourself. Its a word that has been dragged into a uniform description of all things stupid. (admitedly it was done origionaly because of its connection to homosexuality) but these days you will find that most people who use it hold no malice toward homosexuals at all.
Its the same with alot of old derogatory remarks that still get used, Nihalists end up making more of them then is intended.
They are just words people, words themselves cannot offend, only their intention can cause harm. If you intend a word to be insulting it is.
