As daily bump, some statistics about the most popular numbers so far:
01=2 02=6 03=6 04=3 05=4 06=3 07=5 08=4 09=1 10=4 11=5 12=2 13=4 14=5 15=4 16=5 17=8 18=5 19=5 20=6 21=3 22=6 23=2 24=3 25=4 26=5 27=6 28=6 29=8 30=1 31=7 32=4 33=6 34=3 35=2 36=8 37=1 38=8 39=4 40=1 41=7 42=8 43=4 44=2 45=1 46=1 47=1 48=4 49=5
Considering the thread has had some 2.2k+ views, doubt we are getting that many more participants. Still have to, as per rules, wait those little over week to the draw.
Either I gain reputation of managing to lose bunch of ISK in my own lottery (14% chance to lose 4840M), or someone gonna be happy billionaire. -Lasse

Only one jackpot; so the earlier picker would win. Thats why I keep an ordered list of picked sets; the first one on that list wins. A reason to pick your numbers early..
Anyway, currently the chances for multiple potential winners are about 0.95% (or 1 in 105), so hopefully we never need to ponder this issue.

The post above was supposed to be from this charater. The stupid boards used an alt, even though the preview show it as correct.
I sent the set numbers in the payment note, so let me know if you need anything else in confirmation.

No split winnings seems a bit unfair, and a way to prevent further ticket sales, but its your lottery.. Free bump to stir some more interest and wish me luck in the lottery (IRL too :P)

I think it would be a security risk for the participants. That is, if split winnings were allowed, I could scam part of the ISK back to myself.
A little before the end I would have my alts to 'participate' in the lottery with couple billions, using partly same number as previous customers -> I would have a good chance to win half of the ISK back.
So, I feel the current system (only one big jackpot) is better and safer. As side-effect, it does give minor bonus to early players (=bumbers). Yet, those who would mind the effect, can carefully pick numbers to minimize the effect (i.e. those numbers others haven't played much).

So far 1180M tickets sold, of which 380M are from friends (expensive way of showing support:)
Also, at the moment I have 13.91% chance to lose 4820M ISK with this venture, while making some billionare happy.
Roughly two days left after this bump, I'll be back in early sunday.

hi, not sure if i am missing something here????
If i pick 3 numbers at 10mill isk and these 3 numbers apear in the 6 i would win 6billion isk?? because there is a 1 in 57 chance of picking 3 numbers and getting them. So 57x 10mill is 570mill investment with a return of 6bill isk??
can someone confirm and sorry if i am wrong.

I would guess you are comparing my odds against the UK's national lotto rules. In that game, you pick 6 numbers, and if 3 of those match 6 official ones, you win that ú10 (and chance is, I think, the quoted 1:57). In this game you only get to pick 3 numbers, with reduces your chances to that 1:921.
If my math wrong (doubt it, I both calculated the chances and wrote a simulator), then the participants will get easy 6B. If actual chances are lower than I claimed, then I shall amend the rules so that customers wont get screwed.

And some thoughs as the final bump.
As per rules, the deadline for participation will be passed in few hours, 23.59 EVE time. The actual draw will not be till wednesday, just to allow last moment cries for amendable mistakes (from my part).
Don't remember seeing lottery with this high jackpot in Eve history, with (I hope) reasonable safety guarantees.
I hope nobody would win, but there always have to be those lucky bastards.
Anyway, good luck to the participants, on wednesday we'll listen to the old lady Fate who shall be the winner here.

Finally allows posting, so:
As per lottery rules, the draw of Wed 23 Aug 06 decided the winners. The official numbers in the link are 06 16 20 21 23 37.
It appears that in this round we did not get jackpot winner. Closest one was Knightofni, with two out of three numbers.
So, I no lucky billionaire this round, but at least I did not lose 4770M. Instead my total profit is 1230M, of which almost 400M seemed to come from friends (expensive bumps would think..).
Now I am left to wonder if there is need/interest for further rounds, with as high stakes..

Alas, although such method is used in RL lotteries and often results in high jackpots, it is not that viable in this case.
Those RL lotteries use format alike to 'jackpot is XX percent from value of all sold tickets' (so for this round it could have been like 1000M). Personally wanted to try format where the jackpot is (relatively) high regardless of how many tickets I sell.
Unlike BIG Lottery, I am not too eager to organize lotteries where I would (statistically) donate ISK to the participants..
So, was a fun experiment, and through luck I did get to keep some ISKs too (with repeated runs with gain a lot less on average).
-Lasse should someone need the perl script used to simulate/check this lottery drop a note..
