Edited by: Ortus Phoebus on 11/08/2006 01:12:48 I was just after some advise and a few tried and tested setups for this ship, there is no fitting guide for this one before anyone says to look. I have the Cov ops cloak but nothing else fitted.
What are good tactics to use and modules to carry? thanks for your input.

ok, train covops to at least 4. 5 is best. train all the scanning skills to 5 as well.
fit your cloak and a scan laucnher.
in lows go for nanofibres for teh extra speed cloaked and the quick warp away.
mids....
I go for a AB, small shield booster (to drain cap) and the other 3 slots I usually go for a cap battery and to cap rechargers. however cap draining modules liek shield boosters are good here and make it easy to make warp points
You dont want to fight as you are so fragile its not worth talking about,
as you are not fighting you dont want to have a defence, because you wont be shot at.

I dont understand why you would want to drain your own cap! or am i mis-reading something. I thought about EW here but that means you have to uncloak correct? and from what i gather that would mean insta death.is there anything these ships are good for other than warp to points for your gangmates.
And can anyone give a breif outline on how probes are used and why they are helpful. thanks.

Noobs playing with elite stuff
You want to drain your own cap so that your ship isn't able to reach the target in one warp. This will result in your ship stopping in the middle of nowhere. A safespot.

small cap battery is very useful, otherwise the warping range is pretty pathetic. _____________ The day I receive my first moderator forum-sig hijack is the day I realise I have won Eve.

You know, it's perfectly possible to hit that "create bookmark" button in People&Places in midwarp to make a safespot bookmark... Nos4a2 Inc, freelance corp, now recruiting

if i want to scout a gate where a hostile bubblecamp "could" be .. i'd rather prefer a scanspot a few AU away from the gate (remember - there are those nasty gates 50AU from the next object ...) drain your cap - warp to it .. rinse and repeat 'til you're in scanrange ___________________

thanks for the input everyone, one last question, what do people favour for the 5 Mids? If you cant be locked or lock someone else because you then cant cloak, what does that leave?

Often when trying to bust a safe spot you will need to make a mid warp bookmark to scan from. Since cov ops frigates warp at higher speed than other ships (14 au per second IIRC) it makes it very tough to make one spot thats only a few AU away from another object. The only effective way to compensate for this is by draining your cap before you warp, thus reducing the max distance you can warp.

Yes, but when you are warping at 14 au per second, by the time the impulse travels from your brain to your clicking finger, you are already out of scan range of the spot you wanted to drop a bookmark at. Thats why people drain their own cap in recons. Without doing so, its almost impossible to get a mid warp bookmark between 2 points that arent at least 20 au apart.

Most people go with a combination of ECM and/or dampeners, and maybe an AB or MWD for making bookmarks in uncharted territory when no hostiles are around. I also used to carry a 20k scram on mine just in case there was something really juicy I needed to scram for someone else to kill, that was worth the risk (got a freighter kill once this way).

Cov ops skill needs to be at level 5. otherwise you have to gimp your valuable low slots with CPU's ,just to fit the 2 critical mods in highs. |
