Originally by: Nathan Richardsson "We've slowly been approaching an escalating model, where you start off with achieving solar system sovereignty with deployment of Starbases, sovereignty then enabling you to deploy specialised Starbase structures and even building your own Stations.
We'll evolve this model further, adding more structures that require certain pre-requisite infrastructure to be in place, maintained, fuelled and of course defended before you can deploy even more massive and advanced infrastructure.
We'll also be adding structures below the current level, like more personal housing, other structures which don't need more than a Starbase, such as twinned jump-drive portals between Starbases and some more industrial structures like an Outpost link or a Freighter dock.
This will then start to involve planets, probably with an Outpost being deployed at the planet as the pre-requisite for terraforming or directly settling that planet. We'd then like to see a hierarchical model, where you have a governor over some form of capital, with adjoining territories which can build up separately yourself or simply rent out the territory for others to utilize.
If we're thinking more about infrastructure in-space we're seeing Constellation sovereignty being a good justification for more automated solar-system defenses, jumpgate control, multiple Outposts and even full stations within the same solar system; allowing you to fully colonize more planets within a single solar system in your constellation.
Ditto...can't wait

Player owned jumpgates.. *drool*
I hope all these ambitions come to fruition. The new ship models continue to look incredible and i can't wait until we're let loose with all this new stuff.

I fully realise that as it's clearly stated in the article. Still I am really looking forward to the upgrades in all parts of Kali.

Yay! More ways to grief and gank people! I hope they will boost EW and make one module that will render all enemy ships in grid useless with one button. That would be SO kool and nbar PvP!

Not true - read the devblog on the subject. The graphic engine we use today will get an upgrade and that is what you see in the screenshots. The "*real* vista version does not exist yet so naturally there can be no screenshots of it. I will try to find the link to the dev blog...

Found them.
First entry is here: Linkety
Second one (including screenshots) is here: Linkety
For direct link to the screenshots New Graphix 4t!
and for those to lazy to read I quote: "Hammerhead (1915 GMT) Looks like some players already found the new screens we have for the press to download. This level of graphic detail is going to be available to pretty much everyone on their current hardware not just people running crazy new graphics cards and quad core CPUs on Windows Vista."
and finally
"Our final graphics engine upgrades and a similar feature set to Kali One. To clarify a bit, EVE "Classic" is a DirectX 9 engine, which is getting an upgrade. We then have the EVE Vista DirectX 10 engine, which is being created from the EVE Classic engine, but with a focus on utilizing the new features and optimizations in Windows Vista. Both will continue to live, both will have the same content. You don't have to use EVE Vista unless you want to. Note, also, that EVE Classic graphics engine upgrades might be released earlier than Kali Three."
