People who are low-effort/**** stay where they are, good and active pilots get annoyed and move on to be sucked up by more active groups. See BOB/IT of old and now PL. Excellence is not a skill, it's an attitude. |

Some of what the OP is talking about is true though. There really isn't anything going on in EVE these days. MM and Brick invading Curse but that' not a big deal. Test taking a one=man system in Provi with the required PL scap back-up, but that's nothing either. Sadly, that's ALL that's really going on in EVE.
There was an interesting war going on in WH space between Eastern and Western forces but it seems to have died down. Goons and friends are wondering why their thunderdome didn't work. Not much to talk about really. If it wasn't for the dev blogs there really wouldn't be anything to talk about at all. The regular blogs haven't had much to say either outside of the dev blogs. War in EVE has passed and it seems the gunslinger is passing with it.
Fewer people are doing anything at all. I was shocked to find that some people have actually undocked instead of ship spinning like a reasonalbe person would do. I figure that it's something the kids are doing these days. If you see pilots are undocked in local, it probably just a prank. |

My corp has been in and out of a few alliances. And i personally have hopped around to a few, and i've noticed one common thing about them: If they arnt a "major name" alliance, they're simply inactive.
Of all the alliances i've been in, only TEST Alliance, IT Alliance, and RED Alliance were active. These are among the largest in eve, though. Surely, some of the smaller alliances actually do something in this game, besides mine rocks all day?
Who is in a PVP alliance and has only seen one PVP fleet in the past week? And, does any alliance that is active, want 5 really good pvp'ers? =p

Because it's not as easy as it sounds, Running a corporation (And to a far greater extent, an alliance) isn't a simple task. Keeping everyone doing things, active, will always yield complaints from some and praise from others.
Balancing them is difficult (My alliance never broke 300 members, ~40 online and maybe half that active)
I give too many op's in one week ? I suffer poor attendance for each, I give people a break and get complaints.
Here's a thought - ENTERTAIN YOURSELF. It's not your CEO's task to make sure your entertained 24/7, if we don't have a pos to smash later then i wont be posting an op to sit on a gate somewhere, though I personally aimed 2 roams/week (but in fairness, usually ran one every night)
Sorry to sound like a rant, and to people that say your not a suitable ceo/executor I agree and thats why I gave it up.

Then do something about it yourself. Don't blame other people for not entertaining you sufficiently.

If you think nullsec alliances are bad you should see highsec.
I put spy alts into alliances with 300 people in them and nobody but me logs in for an a week. |

I know, right? How am I supposed to commit epic corp/alliance theft/espionage/trapping when there isn't anybody actually playing...
EDIT: Epic because of the tears, money is just a side benefit. Epic alliance thefts don't tend to bread quite as much tears as e-fame. |

Protip: Kick everyone from the alliances that logs in regularly .. they have to be spies .. no player is that active and organized! |

If an alliance/corp doesn't have a "dot" at the end of its name OR an o in the name but instead using a 0 it's not a real alliance/corp.
WI./the Initiative./evoke./ev0ke/Northern coalition./raiden./white noise./the 0rphanage/noir.
If an alliancename doesn't have either one of those two qualities it's a dead alliance. So next time, make sure it has and you're with a good group. |

Don't just join random alliances u know nothing about. Open battleclinic killboards and start checking out the top 1000 corps/alliances and how much kills they do in a week/month. When you find something cool, find more about them and join their fleets to see how they roll / what kind of ppl they are etc.
I'm not even in a alliance and our corp does about 500-1000 kills each month. I would say that's fairly active.

go pvp with your m8's and do well against an alliance that is active...then your alliance will be active. Heck, you might even get an invite...
I like RnK too (except when they drop caps on us) |

Alliances are only ever as active as their members, don't like whats happening organize a gang yourself, I'm probably the worst person to talk here I live in Australia but am in a predominately EU corp/Alliance, half the time when I log in I'm the only one in alliance chat. Pull together group of people and lead your own gang, I don't like the pressure of FCing I do it sometimes. If your not prepared to step up and lead how can you expect others to organize pvp ops for you? Especially if your not a complete noob you should at least know the basics about which ships to call as primary etc.
A good place to start is with t1 cruisers get a few people with you and lead em into syndicate/curse etc have some fun and die gloriously repeat a few times them do it in battlecruisers before long you might even be winning some fights.
The main reason alliances seem so inactive is because ungrateful people like you expect people to run gangs for them day in and day out and then complain when the FC looses a fight they didn't really have a hope of winning anyway (Hi R&K dropped anymore faction BS's in Syndicate during the last week?).
FC's play the game to have fun and can only put up with this nonsense from people like you so much every week and not get burned out and so that's why you only ever see 1 or 2 gangs advertised every week.

Probably because it is bloody hard and extremely exhaustive to run a corp (and alliance)(In my case low-sec), which is one of the reasons we are more or less inactive atm. (In my case = burned out - running things every single day for hours upon hours, fc'ing, diplomacy, issues, and all the other crap takes it's toll)
Tempting to start again though now... |
