Im interested in learning more about EvE... I see a lot of people in the pvp forums saying to go very low on charisma... and it begs the question what is Charisma for?
Is it for a non pvp character? So far, I like running missions and dealing with the market, filling peoples orders...
What kind of character would you make to do missions and fill orders? Would you want charisma? What kind of ship would you want that could haul huge amounts back and forth, but survive some gate pirates and still get away? - - - - -I have so much to learn, please take the time to help me and explain it well.. =) |

Edited by: Durethia on 12/08/2006 01:43:59 If you want to do missions and generally, non-PvP oriented activities. Yes, you will need Charisma. Charisma can effect how fast you train skills related to agents, and support roles on the battle field (like Leadership and gang warfare type stuff). The amount you are paid from an agent, I think, is also determined by charisma.
As it stands, Charisma isn't as "useful" as many of the other skills. But, CCP is fixing that. For example, even in PvP, an Astarte (T2 Brutix) requires Leadership lvl 5 and Charisma effects how fast you can train that. So, I can imagine in Kali (the next patch) that a LOW Charisma will have a strong impact on some of the newer features like personal contracts and some of the new toys for those in 0.0 regarding player owned structures or player controlled territories.
I believe that the Corporate skills require Charisma, but I have next to no SPs in that area so I don't know.

Edited by: Nicoli Voldkif on 12/08/2006 02:05:58 Don't neglect Charisma but don't make it your best stat. No matter what profession you do Charisma is not overally useful. Myself as mission runner Charisma is nice but not as usefull as the other 4 stats. For Combat PVP or PVE you'll want a pretty balanced stats with Willpower and Perception being 1 or 2 points above Intelligence and Memory with Charisma being a point or 2 below Int and Mem. For a more industrial character I'd suggest reversing Int and Mem with Willpower and Charisma.

non-PvP play and charisma are two VERY separate things. Charisma is used for a little bit of everything. It gives large groups bonuses (PvP uses this) it gives people who buy and sell bonuses (used by traders) it gives corporations the ability to have people (used by CEOs) and it boosts mission profits (used by mission runners)
To run cargo missions (which gets HORRIBLY boring) you want a decent charisma, and some perception and will for getting industrial ships. Beyond that you need NOTHING. The only ship you'll ever need is an industrial, and you can get that FAST. This is where it gets interesting, now choose what you want to do with your character AFTER that. I went into construction, then dabbled in logistics (healing/buffing). So what you're saying is nice and all, but you'll want a day job. That's too easy a goal.

The other characters I like the look of are the: Vherokior, though their Charisma is 8 their perception and willpower are 4 and 3. Amarr Khanid, and they are Int5 Chr5 Per8 Mem4 Wil8.
Anwyl: If it gets really boring running the cargo runs, and Im not a real fan of crafting.. what else is there? Logistics? Thats the ships that sort of transfer energy and such? I liked the look of those when I was browsing around ship types, Im much more into defensive and assistance than offense, but people said those ships just get focus fired - and they look pretty expensive to just be getting jampiled so you die first.

Go with it! I think that's the best reason to pick a race personally, and your low cha currently would be viewed as a good thing. Personally I like Gallente better. But that's 'cause of the story and the look of the ships, not some silly stats :-)
Edit: BTW, I started with a perception of 2, so yeah, you can advance well beyond your roots. Just be sure to take all the learning skills if you plan on staying. They DRASTICALLY reduce skill training time, especially if you have a 2 or 3.

Okay... I did do the learning skill thing though. So far I have Instant Recall, Learning, and Analytical Mind all to 3, and in a few hours Ill have Learning 4.
Trying to plan for the long run, the problem is planning for what you dont understand. I just know I dont have all the time in the world (brand new baby + job) so I cant really afford to grind pve so I can pvp... on top of that Im really into defensive roles in pvp to boot. - - - - -I have so much to learn, please take the time to help me and explain it well.. =) |

I like the Intaki as well... I didn't notice it last time I checked them because I was more concerned about the helmet headgear stuff, but they have the pretty lipstick and face-item choices. - - - - -I have so much to learn, please take the time to help me and explain it well.. =) |

Well the skills to do the remote repairing are all Int/Mem. and if you want to get the higher T2 Logistics ships you'll want good Perception/willpower. If you want send me a message in game and I'll try to help you out as much as I can.

Edited by: Khristopher on 12/08/2006 03:04:24 I trained adv cha 3 to speed up leadership skills (used for command ships, gang assist mods, etc..). It is also used for social skills and I also think trade skills? Might have to check on trade skills I can't recall.
edit: Argh what in the world? I think the forums are bugged. I was checking on my alt's skill training, logged out (of the forums) and logged back in to post with my main. When I posted this reply I was told my character didn't belong to me???

Lol, yeah, a good PE would've made getting that ship a ton faster probably, but hey, I like my character and I'm sticking with him :-) The devs seem to like balance of stats over extreme stats unless your character is REALLY focussed, and I approve :-)
And Khris, you don't own that char. He's mine now!
