EVE needs levels, maybe every 1mil SP makes your character go "up" a level, and get integrated EHP/Damage bonuses to every ship they sit in based on their "level".
with this, remove individually trained skills, replace it with "proffessions", you pick one and start dumping SP into it, the more you dump in the bigger the bonus, make it big enough to discourage dumping SP into alot of proffessions at once, that way your required to have friends help you with stuff you arent allowed to do.
also, get rid of races, instead take the 8 ships and divide them up into "tiers", unlocked at certain level milestones.
Also, make supers and titans a starting choice for players, mayeb nerf them some and tier them out similar to subcaps, after all, why should the strongest ship classes in the game be behind an effort wall to the new players?
and at the last, cap the "level" and XP you can get to at 70, maybe once too many people get there up it to 80.
This worked for SWG, a previous scifi sandbox game, and should work for EVE, i predict the CU and NGE for EVE to quadruple or even quintuple its player count and preserve the game for another 10 years! |

Well I have no idea what CU, NGE, and SWG are. All I know is that you suggested giving Eve Online levels, making ships unlockable via "milestones", and making titans available to new players. For all I could figure after reading that, maybe you HAD cut your wrists and were suffering from a lack of oxygen to your brain due to massive blood loss. The deer can get it right. What's YOUR problem? |

I agree. Then let's change "amarr" to "elves", and "minmitar" to "dwarves", and "spaceship" to "axes and magic spells"

To break the lighter side going here. We have levels, they are called skills. We have levels there is civilian, meta 2, meta 4, tech 2 etc.
The way skills train and the progression they allow through the different levels of ships / modules is one of the very best parts of EVE. You see it balances the game between those who do not have a life and play games 6-8 hours a days versus those who have lives and can only play 6-8 hours a week.

Nariya... you forgot to include the creation of a "Trammel server" and "pets" for CQ that give +1 kawaii bonuses (which boosts morale on each ship and makes it overload more and better faster! Change isn't bad, but it isn't always good. Sometimes, the oldest and most simple of things can be the most elegant and effective.

The lack of levels is one of the reasons I enjoy EVE so much.
Leveling is an artificial limiter that really is unnecessary in modern games like EVE.
No reason for it. No need for it. |
