Originally by: Malthros Zenobia How about making it open to teams of any sort?
If a team of NPC copr people want to play, let them LeMonde.
Why don't u make a team for your alliance instead of whining? Kimotoro Directive didn't have a team last time did they?
1. I was gone before, during, and after the signups, otherwise I'd have signed-up and made people do it. If you were in KD, which you're not, you'd have seen my posts *****ing at people for not signing us up. We'll be in the next one even if I'm flying and using alts at teammates.
2. I'm clearly not talking about myself when I say let non-alliance people take part. Now that I've covered what common sense would've told you had you had any...
The tournament is very limiting when it's just alliances, and allowing implants quite honestly made shield tanking the best choice 9 out of 10 times. Limiting some powerful things (such as faction/officer mods), while allowing the use of FACTION MODS, was a horrible move on CCP's part. Faction ships are another story, since there's no T2 battleships (thank god).
The next tournament (3rd time's a charm?) either needs to have a larger limit on what can and can't be used, or it need to allow everything (excluding faction and officer mods). This means ewar and other mod-types not allowed, since ecm should be 'fixed' by then(?). Also boosters would have to be all or nothing if they are in at that time.
CCP can do a no-implant rule if they wanted to. Hell they could just pod everyone before a match, or make them jump into special clones. Anyone who's run even a MUD knows that it's not hard to see 'effects' on players.
Dis-allowing faction and officer mods in a must really, because some bored/rich people would field faction/officer fitted ships, and tbh, they would very likely not lose. You have an estemel/DG invuln tank on a CBC with NOS and no ECM allowed, and that CBC is going to tank you without even trying. Same with a HAC or BS imo.
Rules must be aheaded to. In that fight of ROCK vs SMASH, the timer was extended (more than once) right? There's no excuse for that fight to have not ended in a draw. When several people suck that much and can't kill a Raven for that long, they deserve a draw at best. Same goes for several other fights. No offense guys, but wtf were you doing anyways?
LeMonde, you do need to give the next one some serious thought, and instead of these capship prizes, how about a real prize? Remember the magnates? I don't, it was before my time, but surely the Caldari State has a few pinnacles of State technology to award? State-Issue Raven with 8 missile slots? State Issue Hookbills? Perhaps several of the fighters/frigs that have survived the Caldari-Gallente war?
Sorry you can't afford a dev so you get me instead ^^ - Xorus |

Well its sertenly not Robinhood style at the competitions as is rather give more to thoes who already have....
My sugestion is simple set a Total ISK Balance of what the team may cost 1 ship or 10.

I agree with most above, in that faction implants have got to go. Tank-warz are boring as hell to watch.
But if everything is kept the same as last time, than maybe add 2 more destroyers and 4 more frigs to each team. The frigate has been a non-factor in both tourneys as it does little damage against the tanks we've seen. The destroyer was nothing more than cannon-fodder in the last one - usually died in the first volly.
So it would be 10 man teams (keeping in tune with the last 2 tourney teams getting larger each time) - 1 BS, 1 BC, 1 Cruiser, 3 Destroyers and 5 Frigates
This would allow the smaller ships to gang up on a larger one, without having to worry about the CNR's torps. Might draw people away from transfer drones, as combat drones would be more useful against enemy frigs. Or perhaps kept to support your own frigs against the enemy's.
Mostly, it would allow more members of an alliance to participate, especially newer characters who may not have BS 5 and 9mil SP in gunnery.

Edited by: XyzzyX on 04/09/2006 11:15:01 I would like to see:
1. On GO! fleets should warp to random points (BMs preapred by GMs)- select by fleet leader (any static start range favour some configurations). Distance betwean points should be from 0 km (if both teams decide to warp to same point - of coures this will be random) up to 80km. Points can be placed on sphere or cube. Noone except team members will know which point fleet is going to warp. This should force players to make more versile configurations and face unpredictable range.
2. Points per ships like someone posted before (static squads are boring). Smaller ship = less points, bigger = more points.

I like the idea of all Tech one ships so that every alliance can join in the fun, but it was kinda boring seeing the same fleets over and over again. I think a way to make it more interesting and add more skill in forming a fleet is, make each class of ship worth so many points, and you would be given X points (say 35 points) and to form your fleet you have to buy each class of ship ex(battle ship is 10, battle cruiser could be 7, cruisers could be 5, destroyers could be 3, and frigs could be 2) then you could make any fleet consisting of different amount of ships and ship types so it would be more of a challenge rather than a who can out tank who or who can do the most damage. Like the eve card game though once you have your ship types set you can not change them, as this is your fleet for the entire tournament.
This would make the most flexible fleets progress rather than the ravens and uber tanking ships. I would also then allow ECM and ECCM, because with so many different types of fleets this could fit in well with some smaller fleets of ships. Also now that this is more like true PvP i think that they should allow anything (tech one) that a normal fleet could use in combat.
I don't have all the figures worked out but i would like to see different ships other than the tanked raven with shield booster drones, and the dead destroyer in almost every match.. If anyone could help me with this idea that would be awesome.
thanx,

I think the fighting in the next Alliance Tourney should be Factional.
Each Alliance should have to declare one race from among the four and stick to those ship types.
(To make it more affordable - no implants - but podding allowed.)
As far as modules and ammo etc - let everything in and lets see what happens...
Oh - and make the prizes monetary and spread the wealth. Let them buy what they want off the market at market price.

Team makeup: 4 frigates 4 cruisers 1 BC 1 BS
No two team ships can be the same model. <- This is key
Player built Tech I ships/equipment/ammo only. For some reason the fact that ~50% of the people replying to the thread fail to read and understand the point of the OP is hilarious. |

I choose to believe I "understand" what he meant and just participate. My ego aside... you are right. However, the last battle between BoB and ASCN was comical too. The one on one duel I think was a tad like flipping a coin.
Oh - I predict that the next Tournament - BoB will not win. I just thought I would go on the record with that prediction. If I was to pick a crowd favorite, I would pick Mercenary Coalition (MC) to win next time. At some time though, you gotta think we are all related in an Eve way closer than we think.

Personally I thought the tounament as a whole was pretty damn good.
Maybe a have a seeded knockout first round where all the teams that qualified from the group stage of the second tournament are seeded and any team entering that didn't or hasn't entered previously is drawn against them. The winners of these ties then go into an "upper tier" group stage tournament and the losers into a "lower tier" tournament hopefully making for some more competitive rounds.
Banning snowballs & mining lasers and disqualifying any team attempting to throw a match.
T2 mods and all ships is a good idea T2 ammo might help beat some of the uber tanks that we saw particuarly in the final.

All T1/T2 stuff but instead of making it 1 on 1's make it 4 way free for all with random drawings.
1. Everyone shows up for the tournament at the same time. 2. The Dev's select 4 teams and drop them into combat at the last minute 3. 4 Alliances duke it out until the last shift is left! 4. Points are awarded for ship types killed and what order you were eliminated in.
Just an idea.
