Dunno if it actually makes any difference how many people register their support for an idea ... but here's mine

Please, please add this feature. Maybe just one folder off you main hanger if that is all you can manage.

Even just being able to change the name that a cargo container displays when it's on the hangar floor would be great, I thought that was what they were going to do with the last major patch, but that was just to change the name of it while out in space. I was bummed.

I am also longing for that. (in factI came reading those awfully slow, non-searchable forums just to start lobbying for folders in hangars).
the game has hundreds of different items, sooner or later your hangar(s) holds dozens of items, and then it's hell.
Huge containers could be used to group items together, like a subfolders, but : 1. you can't see inside containers (nor ships cargoholds) from the assets window. So seeing 5 containers in your list wont tell you nothing if you don't remember in which system you left that precise item you need now. 2. requiring containers to partition hangars complicates management, for no real benefit in role-play (no benefit at all in fact)
this is a simple feature that is really lacking.
ah, the folders would be accessible in the assets window of course. It's really a pain to have to go down a list of 150 items (randomly sorted) in the assets window jsut to see if you still have that item you want..
Please please please, add this feature quick !
proper handling of long lists is a general issue (items, buddies, agents, bookmarks - but this one is foldered now..). But proper handling of hangar items is by far the most badly needed.
maybe properly solving this issue might imply changing many different things (reprocessing plant & 'pick item', factories & research labs for selecting blueprint, hangar views AND assets window's view of hangars ..) and that could turn the 'simple feature' into a wider modification that can't be done very easily.
but at any case, give us folders !

Full support for this idea.
I wonder tho how much extra resources would be required server side .
Still the idea is awesome. Good luck with it/

I need some folders, too. My hangar has already about 30 parts in it to trade or to refit my ships. I tried to use containers, but that is even more complicated. It should at least be possible to set a name for containers.
btw. What about implementing a possibility to save a handful of configurations for each ship? It would be great to activate a ship, choosing a profile and getting it fitted automatically with the needed devices. I often refit my cruiser for mining, hunting and even something in between. It costs much time to pick all single items from an unsorted hangar and drag it to the ship.

Yes, it would be good to have folders in the hangar. I get over 200 items constantly in there and it can be a pain sort through.
Right now I use secure cans to hold things. One for corpses, one for blueprints, etc.... but having named folders would be much better.
And the configuration saving, I would love to see. I had to build another Apoc just for mining so I didn't have to keep swapping out all the modules when I wanted to mine instead of hunt. It's rather awkward to take off all the modules that are not needed just to switch to another configuration. The extra ships help now, but if a configuration save option was ever implemented, I could sell the extra ships instead of having dedicated function ships which is a waste of Isk to have sitting in a hangar.
I wonder if configuration saves will ever happen? If so, please give us 5 saved profiles. This would allow us configurations for different loadouts and our play for each log on, and leave a couple for when we switch to other ships. 5 profiles per ship would be nice.

yes please, make you able to make a few folders, would be great, and you should be able to call them what you want... Just like bookmark folders.
Thus far though the assets window will do, with the split between modules, ammo and so on, but folders would definately be helpful.

I bought 8 cargo cans to allow me to organise things in hanger - unfortunately, I cannot "name" them at the moment. According to my corp buddies the ability to name a cargo can in hanger will be in the next patch (ehem...).

I see this as something obvious as well. Did no one mention this as a good idea in Beta, or what? Also why couldn't it have dawned on them to have cargo container name's showing in the hanger when they created the cargo containers in the first place.
CCP you need to think about things a bit more... I understand when you get focused on programming you might not think of things until afterwards but at the very least hop on over to another division in your building and ask them what they think of something... or do you guys not play the game at all either?
In short, I like the idea of folders and ship profiles too.
