Ahoy-hoy pilots! Just to inform you that the Missions Objective Guidance feature (affectionaly called the Mission Tracker) has now been enabled on Singularity.
This handy little feature resides in the Agent info-panel of the UI. It sits to the left of the mission, and tracks the various states of your mission giving you some helpful hints of how to complete the mission. It will update when a mission has been completed, and advise you to return to the agent.
It's been a difficult feature to implement, and we are trying to refine some of the hints now so they are as helpful as they can possibly be. So please give feedback on this.
And if you do have a mission where the tracker does not seem to be helpful, please tell me the name of the mission, and the agent too. And then tell me what it is about the tracker hint that doesn't quite add up.
Please go forth, and give it a try. We will be waiting eagerly for feedback so that we can polish it further. We of course have a few ideas of our own for where to take this, we will be discussing this further in an upcoming dev blog.

Mission-by-Numbers now, is it? Someone high up said that EVE desperately needs to appeal to eight- and nine-year-olds? While I absolutely respect the work you guys put into building new features and updating old ones, between flat-out telling people what structure to shoot to get escalations from combat sites and now this ... I have a deep sense of worry.
Oh well. Anyway, since you're looking for places where things are broken, I'll give you this:
The Blockade Lv3 vs Serpentis as assigned by Aminnard Stensaine says to activate an acceleration gate. We all know The Blockade doesn't have an acceleration gate. |

I don't know why you're concerned about it making the game easier as you've got to have the brain function of a child to want to run missions in the first place.

Nothing really changes, right now you have to go to eve-survival whatever out-of-game source you like most to get the info what to shoot. The only thing that changed is, that the information is now in the client, where it belongs.
Stop trying to pretend PVE (especially missions, only belt ratting is lower) is somehow "hard" or requires any thinking. It really doesn't. |

Your journal already flashes in the neocom when you complete an objective. missions don't need this but I think it's a nice addition regardless, I'll give proper feedback when ever I can get on sisi.

I've tried it briefly but already I saw a major flaw :)
Mission : Drink Wars Agent : Heinulaila Yaris
The mission objective thingie states that you need to have "Quafe Unleashed" in your cargo, but when you kill the npc that drops it, it immediately switches to "You need to warp to the mission location", despite the fact that I haven't even looted the can yet. Oh and the message is wrong anyway, because I would need to go back to the agent to complete the mission.
Also I'd like to point out that, while a nice small feature, it was hard to find in the first place. Even though I knew I had to look for something different than what I already knew. So yeah, I hope that you included some line in the NPE that informs new player that they can mouseover this.
By the way, the icon itself becomes brighter when you mouseover it, even though its not clickable. I was expecting something to pop-up upon left clicking on it.
Oh and, my two cents... Shouldn't you be working on a way to design dynamic and procedurally-generated missions instead of doing something that probably takes a lot of time, by necessitating to manually go over each mission and manually enter the objectives?

Thanks for the detailed feedback. I will look into the first point and find out the transition between states.
We are working on changes to make the tracker visually change states in a more noticeable way such as when it appears, and when it is updated.
The icon actually will select a target that it is referring to if applicable. For example, Kill a certain NPC, it will select that NPC. Or use the acceleration gate, or hack the container.
And the last point, thats something completely different. The main goal was to make the objective clear in the Info panel, and to tell a player when they can return on mission completion to the agent.

Interesting! But the question is, if my mission is to bring an item back that drops on an NPC, will it work?
Because you know how new players are! If they see the tracking telling them to kill stuff, the one time they need to bring an item back, they will assume that the objective is not to kill an NPC.

One less thing for newbros to get frustrated at before they graduate onto bigger and better things. More visual feedback as already riffed on with incoming damage rings, discovery scanner and inbound BM compass etc. Good change. |

'Smuggler interception' tells me I 'need to have militants in your cargohold'. The actual objective is to destroy the escorts in addition to acquiring the militants, but the tooltip doesn't reflect this (it does say it in the detailed mission brief).

Did Pirate invasion from Mekamireki Fedas.
Showed warp to system when I was already in the system instead of warp to mission objective. After I selected to warp to the event the message changed to warp to mission objective. The use warp gate message does not last long enough. Warp to objecive is used to ofton.
Mission icon and warp gate icon are stacked backwards. not allowing warping if clicking right on the icon.

I tested it a few times on level 3 missions. It was simple and easy to understand. I like that it just gives the minimal amount of information (go here, get this, return to agent).

Early messages are good. Did not notice a go to system message when I was already in the system. Change might have been triggered by the undock. Issue: When the mission success window pops up when you destroy the target it triggers the what do you need status to go way. The message warp to mission area shows up to fast before you have a chance to get the item.

I've had issues getting some of the spawns to appear correctly in level 5 missions. I will kill all NPCs but mission tracker says I still need to kill more. Sometimes towers will spawn but not NPCs needed to finish the mission. When the towers do spawn they take forever.
Edit: Rogue Spy 1 of 3 and Operation Wyrmslayer were two I could not finish due to NPCs not spawning correctly. |

Read the mission details icon is missing.

There should be a 'Complete Mission' button in the Agent info-panel when the player returns to the correct station with the requested goods. complete mission button would be awesome

Any update on the current state of the Mission object tracker with the NPE and career missions? The were still not in what I would consider a shippable final state yesterday.
Just call it a beta role out. Would make it clearer for every one that all errors need to be reported so the system can get better.

Trying with a new character again. I moved around the notification button and changed some settings and it closed the tutorial accidentally without leaving a hint about where the window closed to. any time you move the Notification icon from under the window it closes that window. This was before clicking next the message about how to reopen the tutorials is on the second page.
"Read the mission journal" is better but should it not be "read the tutorial steps"?
Better then the messed up mess it was while you sort out the rest but no green checks .
Is the entire systems reverting to just the journal hints or just the tutorial.

Just Aura. The missions are very strange, and we have had to case mission steps. They just don't make sense with the Aura missions, as we cannot inform a player to board the rookie ship and then proceed through an acceleration gate without a ridiculous system monitoring their actions and trying to predict behavior.
The future of the Aura introduction isn't quite sure, and spending lots of development time on it was not going to be a good move. You can listen to CCP Rise's presentation from EVE Vegas 2014 for some background on how we aim to reinvent the NPE.
