It could just have been they didn't have scrams fitted, and thus had no real reason to engage.
On the other hand, they might have realised how pwn you are in a rifter and ran like little girls

rifter = owner of all frigs....
the minmatar didnt get super ownage BSes but they got the ownage frig.
but T2 stuff running from a rifter is just sad. i can understand you, but why dont you try engaging a cruiser or someone who might think they stand a chance against a 2 year character in a t1 frig most likely decked out with t2 stuff.
and to top it off you look like a tackler.
not to mention, flying into a belt with a ferox with 5 visible miner IIs and locking a covetor in 1.0 space is fun to see them consider you for a second and then warp... then yell at you in local.
i wonder if i could purchase a female sig and make some siglets..... |

Got 1 of the guys in my corp (nicely flashing red of course) who likes to warp in on mining ops in a shuttle.
I can see why they do that (shuttle scouting and all that) but it's still funny not even checking to see whos there, "OMFG RED GUY HERE RUUUUUUUNNNNNN".

Every time I have engaged a single pirate attacking me, im suddenly surrounded by at least 6 more ships. Only once have i been able to fight a single pirate. She was with a group, but I challenged her to a 1 on 1. She accepted, I lost, but I didnt mind, it was fun, and i got a chance to defend myself. Pirates (especially in the MH region) REALLY need to grow a pair. Everywhere you go, there is a swarm of battleships gate camping, acting like they are all tough. Then they call you a pansy because you didnt want to fight 10 battleships by yourself. Seriously, they all talk big, but they hide like scared little children behind a fleet of ships, and try to make themselves sound like gods. And I know im gonna get one of these spineless morons flaming me, saying you fail, or quit playing the game, or some dumbass thing like that.

yeah - I was transporting a impel, fitted 5wcs, 2 nano just in case, only to see a Nyx in a gatecamp. Got past it easaly enough.... only to see it cyno 2 jumps ahead with its drones out waiting for me. Makes a change from all the logon traps you see nowadays.

The real question is whether the hauler target jammed the scorp keke 
TBH, in defense of the Est guys, I'm surprised they actually found a ISS BS versus the plethora of ISS shuttles and stabbed haulers that parade around catch these days :p Perhaps using a shotgun to swat the occassional and rare spider isn't such a bad thing ;)

Luckily I haven't bumped into any pirates yet, as I'm still fairly new. Only about a month of play time.
So, if I saw a pirate in a low tech frigate who played for 6 months or more, I'd prolly run aswell. I don't quite have the money yet to run around and sacrifice myself. And it if is entirely true with pirates just playing bait to pwn you with friends, I don't see the point in the pirates being mad at people fleeing..

Some people see that red(or yellow) flashing and don't even check ship type, they just jam the warp key.

If the hawk was me, I apologise. An EST. rifter was aggro trapping us on that gate earlier for an ishtar on the other side. I'll happily 1v1 a rifter in a hawk, but you can appreciate suspicion :p

My rifter was camping G-5, the people I wanted to engage came from Assah, they knew there was no backup near the area. They could have engaged and destroyed me easily yet they ran. It just smacks of cowardess to me.

Nah, it was another guy i think, you guys were camping the gate with 3 Ass frigs earlier in the day, took me a while to get my ishy to g-5 to fight you all. And you lot actually did fight :P (though i did mess up a bit and didn't stay in nos range of the enyo, took too long to kill him and gave your other ass frigs a chance to leave scram range and disengage)

Tbh when 4 battleships and a hauler warps away from my Arazu and my ishtar, all with +4 wcs, I start thinking the same as Bazman here... I start thinking of balls?
