I find it interesting that anyone thinks instas main purpose is avoiding gatecamps!
Sure they may help a bit with that, but pirates / pvp'ers that know their trade can still get you, and besides, if that were the reason, why would anyone bother BMing high sec empire systems?
The reason for instas being so all-pervasive is because eve is a computer game, and people are unwilling to spend vast wodges of the computer-playing relaxation time trawling towards gates for ten minutes at a time.
Warp to 0km is, imho the ONLY solution to the lag situation caused by BMs - although this option should only be available as a manual selection and not possible to set as a default warp-in distance.
I also agree with the sentiments about warp disruption bubbles working in empire systems sec 0.1 to 0.4. If this change is implemented and you go blindly warping to gates and the gate is clear, the "insta" works. If it's bubbled then you're in trouble.
This can only go to encourage good scouting of routes, and I can't think of a reason why the pirates, pvp'ers and other gate loiterers wouldn't like it - at the moment they have to contend with lag, the fact most people have instas anyway, and bubbles don't work in 0.1 - 0.4. With the warp to 0km and bubble solution - okay, everyone has the insta (except afk-ers) where only most people had it before, but in payment for that small thing you get less lag AND you can put up bubbles to enhance your empire gatecamp anyway.... (plus you get free instas everywhere yourself - think about it...)
Only caveat I'd put on that is that warp bubbling someone is not counted an act of aggression, so sentries don't open up on the bubble owner or bubble until owner of said bubble does something that would get him shot at currently.
It's a simple solution to one of Eve's most horrific problems - why bog it down with skills, deteriorating effectiveness, scaling to ship mass, blah blah blah?
This idea can work, guys, and lots of people seem to like it - lets just get behind it, huh? - we all *NEED* instas and we all *WANT* less lag, right?
