Its been a long time and i have spend thousands of hours in eve. At one point i had 4 accounts. I was top ranking on the killboard. I been in massive wars. Capital ship fights. Small high speed roaming. Bs fleet bashing. Fcing. Plexing...
I done all i can think of in eve.
My character now having reached. 156 mil sp.
Over the last 6 months i have kept paying but not playing.
I liked to think i would keep atleast one account going forever. For supporting the people that made all the fun i once had possible.
My problem with eve. There are no reasonable goals i can still achieve.
Any other 10+ year old people that have the same problems? What do you do?

I done all i can think of in eve. I am sure you haven't done all you can think of in EVE. You must have been scratched the surface of most of it. The game is too complex to become a master of everything.
My character now having reached. 156 mil sp. Close to this here. Makes things a bit easier but SP at a special level don't really matter.
I liked to think i would keep atleast one account going forever. For supporting the people that made all the fun i once had possible. Keep all accounts. You never know...
My problem with eve. There are no reasonable goals i can still achieve. There's so much you still can find in EVE. It's all about the people you fly with.
Any other 10+ year old people that have the same problems? What do you do? I am playing since 2006. I started with PvE to get into the game. Finally I ended up in PvP. I was most of the time flying solo. For more success I started another account. Finally I decided to triple box what is the maximum for me. Then I joined Dark-Rising with a bunch of great people keeping EVE exciting by moving to different places. You need to be in a corp or alliance where people help each other or where people with more time and better ideas keep things exciting.
After over 10 years payment my account will expire on 6 nov 2014 Maybe time for a break to come back and enjoy the game again. |

everything is always a new and exciting experience.
Especially WH living lately got my interest because it offers a risky enviroment where you can basically find yourself in combat any second and it allows to drop in at random locations. wreck havoc and get out again :)
maybe you want to give WH living a shot :)

Always sad to see threads like this, especially from players with 10+ years here in game.
I suggest you keep your main account active, continue training skills and see about being a mentor / big brother to some new players. I'm sure your stories and experience would be a great benefit to them.
In fact being a mentor / big brother will more than likely re-spark your interest in the game again, especially since newbie excitement is very catching.

I had my 10th birthday this year in March (different toon to this one) and know what you're feeling.
I've had I think the very typical route that starters at that time had. Miner -> PvE -> 0.0 over time. I've led an Alliance, been Founder and Co-Leader in a different alliance that invaded and conquered space, then expanded and lost it some years later.
Since that time I've considered myself retired. And just use EVE as a passive indy isk earner to acquire wealth ('cos it's just addictive, and I love playing the markets). I've also seen it as personal mission to seed some 0.0 markets. All fun.
but now, especially with these silly new Production changes, I too am thinking. Well, if production is no fun anymore and just endless hassle and lag in station, ... what now. Missioning is dull now. It's either p1ss easy or fatal. nothing imbetween for me (and fatal is usually me just ballsing up on my ship setup [again] and getting scrambled and wait for the end lol).

Been playing since november 2003
I must confess i don't log in too much anymore, I have set myself alot of mini goals, some harder than others over the years. one of the worst parts is so many people i played with have since left, some along time ago!
Some of my achievements/ attained mini goals are:
Lead an alliance of over 400 people in 0.0 Made 100billion in liquid isk been in an eve tournament (like the 3rd i think it was?) went out pretty quickly lol owned at least 1 torny ship attended at least 1 eve meet (Veto in london, was pretty epic) 0.0 wars capital fights involved in a supercarrier kill owned a supercap in the original privateers pre nerf
Goal working towards now: 200mil sp (only about 10 more to go) make 200bil liquid isk be a good trader as this is pretty much the only thing i have not done
it is getting harder, mainly because meeting new cool people is hard when you have made so many that then have left! :-(

On 0.0, totally. This was something that needed fixing IMO. Space has become 'way' to small.
If they could fix BM's, I'd be totally up for getting rid of warp to zero. Yeah, people would hate it, but ... you have your own rat routes setup, and when you go off piste it's slower. Anyway, side issue lol
I will bit hit hard as I normally only move in 0.0 under cap power, but, eager to adapt and survive as this change could bring a much more 'local' nature to EVE... looking forward to it.

Yup , kept changing what i do over the last 3 years to keep it as interesting as possible but around the summer i decided that enough was enough.I check the forums daily as a habbit though so a full retirement is not something i intend on.
I have plexed my account till somewhere half 2018 , got the isk to plex multiple accounts for a lifetime so meh why not , and will be using the new skillqeue system to just set a years skilling on so that i don't have to log in for anything unless it is occasionally for a chat with old mates.
If and when i will be playing fully again is something i have no clue about , but there is a decent chance that this time i will not be coming back to ''undock''.I don't intend to buy a new pc rig anywhere in the next years and this one is starting to become outdated , add to that that i bought myself an xbox one yesterday and i really can't see myself undocking for the next years to come.
We'll see though , it's eve and if there is one thing that is more addictive then seks it's eve.I can't think of any game wich could keep me interested for a year so i've been quite happy with CCP providing me 10 years of fun and excitement.
Ow and for those who wonder , no you can not have my stuff it will collect dust with me , though i was nice enough to hand 100 B in plex to some close friends last week who still enjoy the game. They normally pay with cash so the least i could do was give their rl finance a few years without eve costs .
We are all born ignorant, but one must work hard to remain stupid.

Forum Rules wrote:33. "Quitting" posts are only permitted on the Out of Pod Experience channel.
CCP recognize that during the course of gameplay a lot of friendships are made between players and that sometimes if a player is taking a break or departing from the EVE universe that they would like to say goodbye on the forums. Posts of this nature are only permitted on the Out of Pod Experience forum, and must be civil and well worded |

11 year vet as of april 1st.
130m sp's (kids use implants, otherwise.. yea.. but I die too much so low sp's for me!)
I just got out of wane period where I was a bit bored with eve. Seems to be slowly getting my 12th wind.
How I do it is I usually get really annoyed at something and want to fix it. my 11th wind I had a corp theft while I was on a small break, it lite a fire under me for about 6 months, now i'm looking that eve could be getting some cool stuff so I want to rebuild my corp and make a new alliance.
Eve is like real life, there are many things you can do that you prolly have not, either because you figured it might be boring, or you just never got around to it. Rack yoru brain and try it out. Or set a goal for yourself, be it see every system to mine x amount of ore. Its not really hard to find a reason to play again, I have done it 12 bloody times now (damn you eve and your crazy ways)
But if you must leave, I will be more then happy to hold it for you, you contract to DaReaper.
But the key is to think 'what have I not done today' and try it. My new goal is to rebuild my corp, create my third alliance, and attempt to conquer space without renting. I will most likely fail, but it will be fun trying

Same here, for years I been playing this game. Most of my friends have left, and few got forgotten. I tried to revive my interest by joining others corps.. Being low sec, 0.0 or high sec I couldn't find my self any more. I done just about everything on this game, including ganking and corporate theft with various chars that are now on the hands of other players. I finally created this corp and I just log in to change skills, once I run out of isk then hopefully I'll be interested on playing again or my accounts will go dormant for a long time.

As for BIG , it was a great corp. if you were a pvping member you got everything for free. all the tools you needed to pvp for free. you can say what you want , i know where i have been and what i have done.
Its just sad there are no goals anymore now. I made this post before i leave looking what the other really old vets are upto. how they are still finding reasons/goals to play.
My point still stands though,
You bigged up your quitting post with "I've been here since Beta, look at me, whine whine whine" when in fact, you weren't. You had issues in Beta and then bogged off for over a year before coming back and playing the game a full year after launch. You're quitting, you're a veteran, we get it, but seriously, did adding "Beta player" add anything other than self importance to your post?
As for BIG, sure, they were okay I guess, but when a corp get's a bigger reputation for the Lottery it runs than the fighting prowess of the Alliance it's in, well it's going to get fun poked at it. Especially by a former Curse Alliance arch enemy.
Sure, it sucks when the goals you have are gone, I agree - I've quit several times myself - partly why you don't see me on that original character from way back when. He got deleted when I started over to make myself a new goal.
But all that aside, I poked fun because, you know, you could have said it all without coming across like a "ex-Beta player more important than other plebs that I'm quitting" pompous git.

Sounds like you've done about the whole trip, OP-- including herding many cats. Congrats on that. [In my opinion] The sandbox can get old, and also the repetitive in-alliance interactions can get old, too. Blood mates leave, new guys come in, some good, some bad, some indifferent. Maybe the indifferent ones drag most on the desire to resub. It's bound to turn into a repetitive cycle. If it didn't seem a little no-fun after a few thousand days, you might not be thinking right.
Give yourself a break as long you want, man. Come back whenever you feel like it again.

Also, to all those asking for OP's stuff: Shame on you. This man is obviously on the edge of either a long break from Eve, or a quit. How dare you all ask for his stuff. Maybe he has a use for it still! Maybe his alts will use it. Maybe he will let corpies borrow it. Maybe he will let it all sit on an idle account. It is for that man to decide. Stop being vultures. Also, I have permadibs on stuff.. so.. get in line.
Confirming that UAE has dibs on any person's possessions if they decide to part ways with EVE, permanently or temporarely.

After over 10 years payment my account will expire on 6 nov 2014
Dude just take a break, world wont end because you get break or stop playing eve, personaly im exhausted from EvE to, got 130+mil sp , and nothig to do anymore, being part of big community isynt always good and isynt somthing that people always need, somtime people need to calm down and rest.
Long time ago i was almost fanatic of this game, but even you love somthing you cant be slave of x thing...
Presonaly i wont play EvE until it change, there still big of lacks and EvE is far away from perfect SF simulator, how about space ships game conected to ground on large scales, like world in mass effects etc.. i know that never happens so i wont back for good...
Enjoy your fredom stop be slave of game even its good, take break, play somthing else, find new hooby etc.
I know that feeling, since 3 years i just pay for sub and swiching skills...but this isynt playing.
If it bleed we can kill it.

To the OP, someone suggested applying for an ISD position in another post. Pass on what you know. |
