Seriously, you guys are such a bag oh whiners. I'd like to see you code a game that is capable of holding 15,000+ users at the same time in a graphical code environment in a huge cluster that is not the most common of setups WITHOUT getting the infrequent crash.
I work at a web-development company and they get crashes on applications that are relatively simple in comparison to the giant ball of code that is EVE.
So, if you can't do it yourself, stop whining that others arent doing it well enough. If CCP are that bad, why are you playing their game?

Yup, so true. I hate it when people are all "GOD DAMN CCP!! GRR!". They are the best MMO company I've ever seen that's for sure. one giant server... I mean come on people. I know your all gonna reply to this going "Well, I f**king pay to play this game!!!". Big deal? Everyone else pays for it too.. not only that, but compare the price for this game with other MMO's and then compare this games gameplay and server and help and everything else compared to the next leading MMO.

I pay precicely because I can't do it myself, stop pretending you aren't annoyed that the game has been down more in the past 48 hours than it has been up. These random crashes probably has more to do with the OS they run EVE on than the game itself. I heard they run on an NT cluster. If they are really running EVE on an NT cluster they should discover a real clustering system such as OpenServer or Linux since IBM stole OpenServer's clustering code and put it into Linux.

How about no. I want just as any other paying customer wants - working product. And I don't care about any problems the developer has - SW or HW. They are being payed to keep it up and running...

Agreed, but the quality of service as of late (patch deployments resulting in unstable servers) seems too much like SOE.

The single issue I have with their development process is that they patch too often for my liking. Seems that every time we get a patch, we get the bugs sorted, and then we get 4 to 6 weeks of fairly solid play, and the process repeats itself. I'd really for one prefer that they set a regular patch schedule of say twice a year, and put more into preparing for each major update on a regular schedule, and then make small corrections throughout the year, rather than patching every 8 to 10 weeks (5 or 6 times a year). You'd also then be expecting such an update around a regular time and know that the problems like this will be happening around that time.
For those of you that are new-ish to EVE then every time they patch at a minimum set a skill for 4 days, and if you have one thats 7 to 14 days long that would be ideal, since sometimes the problems go on for a week or two after patch day while they sort out the mess.
Even with these sorts of problems, there's not another MMO I'd rather play, and not another company I'd rather deal with than CCP. If you've tried the other MMO's out there you already know what I mean.
Getting mad, complaining, and bashing dev's will not help you, will not help ccp, and will not change anything. As said by someone else around here... There is no magic wand of fixing, and it is not powered by forum whines.
For once I'm glad to see CCP concentrating on updating and fixing the problems in the client and in their code, rather than pushing new content. If you're really interested in things being better this is a big step in the right direction for everyone, please, give them the patience and time to make the needed changes that imho are long overdue...
Onward and upward, ccp... best of luck.
One more thing - The fastest way to do something is to do it right the first time.

If you have ever tried optimising old code...you'll know it's no picnic. The people you are paying are only human...and they make mistakes like us all. My point is that while people may be annoyed, there is little need to flame the dev's to the degree ive seen on these forums in the last 30 min.
I've got a ship out there next to a load of NPC's that currently want to blow me to bits and its quite possible they have. Am i annoyed? yes, at CCP? No. Things like this happen in life (and EVE). Thats why you have insurance in life (and EVE)

1stly, random crashes seems a bit off...considering it comes after a major update of old code, i think its probably fairly safe to say that this isn't random.
2. Urm...I doubt they are running on NT. I'm not system admin, but i dont think NT has the balls for that job.
3. I understand that many people's losses will be far worse than mine (if ive lost anything, still got my fingers crossed) but it's also important to remember...EVE IS A GAME. Get over it. EVE 101: Never fly anything you cant afford to lose (+ added extension) Especially after being forwarned that headache code is being deployed.

Recall the new code hade been tested in china with 38k players, it gets used here with 25k players and falls over, then goes into a continual loop of starting over, now back to a 5 min countdown and probably a repeat. When get into the game, changing the shorter skill i wanted to a longer one that not need as badly
not signed, more a sigh !

I pay I play. I dont play I dont pay - or extend every1s accounts in compenstation - which is not always ideal for thos who have limited time to play/week, but its better than another "doh! server down again" "o well!" from CCP.

Then quit...If your not satisfied with your service or product, you are under no obligation to continue the use of it. One less whiner in local - thank you very much.
If you feel the level of service is unacceptable, dont think you have the right to be a rude tw*t and flame the people you feel are responsible. It's not the critisisms that are annoying, it's the unnessesary manner in which the majority of them are said in. If you guys want to criticise CCP, thats well within your right...just keep it clean and constructive.

Ill second that!
Actually i think its ok to flame CCP in private if u want - but ffs we are all grown ups(atleast most of the peeps posting here), so keep yer thoughts about CCP or other players private - or just moan about it in your corpchannel - believe me it works aheluva lot better that way - more fun and u get it off ya chest and move on.
Take it easy and do something constructive while the server is down - u might like it
Cheers z

I think CCP is doing a great job considering what has been occuring as of late. The more support we give them, the more incentive they have for bringing it up faster. Plus, look at it from their perspective: what if you had thousands people saying what a horrible job you are doing to you? How would you feel??
Give CCP a break. Thx.

Look, how about you take a big cup of STFU, calm down and then read what I wrote again (you can do it couple of times to really get a grasp). I haven't flamed anyone and wasn't being rude (nor ****, much unlike you).

Bottom line is... We Pay to play - which means they are responsible for providing what they advertise at a good quality level. I have 4 accounts, each with a years subscription... thats $524.00 US dollars per annum. Set a side the excuses: Customer support aint working too well. Servers and Software are providing very poor performance.
This forum is the only means right now for CCP to hear the frustrations of its customers - And I seriously believe its a good thing that they see just how many people are disgruntled with the game they provide to get them to invest in making the game more reliable. You can say its just a game - but wheres the fun in a game crashing after you've invested several hours of gameplay to achieve something, and having that nullified by software hickups!

It's true, this patch was tested on the chinese server.
BUT ON A BRAND NEW DATABASE.
Here you have an old database that have been plagued with a great number of fixes. So just wait a bit and then, you'll get a game that will run with far less problems. Just train a long skill.

Edited by: Brindon on 23/08/2006 22:23:52 if 50% of the people are unhappy enough to quit do you think that the game will develop at its current rate with a hugely reduced income? what would happen to the half that stays? how long till the ships sinks?
If you are unhappy with the service level complain and it will/should improve. If we all just up and leave there will be nothing left.
Ignoring a problem until it becomes "the straw the broke the camels back" and rather than complaing you quit isnt the way to keep the devs happy, employed and the game advancing.
Complain when it bothers you enough, when enough people are bothered and the complaints are high more funds would be divert to the required areas, (customer service etc) I hope.
Flame away... i'm bored
EDIT like pain every1 has a differnt twining threshold. Mine is low enougth to keep me busy

the quality of service has not been good, far from it imo. but however we are not ignoring the problems, they are being addressed and now we finally got dragon out, we are focusing more on the stabiliy problems and plan to crush the worl..... problems once and for all.

Ok everyone makes mistakes, and ccp defo aint the worst out there, at least they provide feedback about whats going on, But cmon.. they have a dedicated test server, with hundreds (thousands?) of beta testers, shouldnt they at least make sure the patches are 100% before launching em to the public? Or at least hold all the patches untill Kali and just release a full on new client?
(srry my first real moan, and that first post was crying out for a kicking) Keep plugging at it ccp, take no heed of us "whiners"
