Yes it just seemed so pointless and gimmicky to me. Jeezlouise we get it, alright? Your name is V. Now shut up!
Yeah it was corny, but still good IMO

Yeah, there are certainly much worse introductions coming out of Hollywood these days. Not only was that thought out, it was playful, correct, and managed to show who V really was even though he's been going around killing and blowing things up. --- --- --- ---

I'm not as big a star wars fan as I was a few years ago, but the scene in A new Hope where Luke walks up to that mound of sand and looks up towards the twin suns of Tatooine, its just after his uncle tells him he cant leave for the academy until next year.
There is another scene similar to that one in episode 2 where you see Anakin travelling across the surface of tattoine on a swoop bike and you can see the twin suns setting in the background. -----------------------------

Its on YouTube actually, it contains profanity so don't watch it if you've led a very sheltered life. *Linkage*
Excellent scene, when i saw this topic, thats the very first scene came into my mind.
True Romance. Worth watching the movie just for that scene.

The opening of the origonal Star Wars film when the writing is fading away and the gentle music plays and the camera pans down to a peaceful looking world and....
BAM !!!
The Corrilian Corvette goes over head and it's big (remember the other sorts of ships seen in films of that time) and its shooting and then the Star Destroyer......
That ship just went on forever. A true feeling of power and fear generated by the shear size and deep thruster sound.
Fantastic.
The final moments of Roy Battys life in Blade Runner was also a wonderful sceane but for totally differant reasons.

Originally by: ParMizaN A few of the scenes in V for vendetta:
The scene when he introduces himself, hehe.
That is an awesome scene.
"This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is it vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished, as the once vital voice of the verisimilitude now venerates what they once vilified. However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation, stands vivified, and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin vanguarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition.
The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta, held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose vis-a-vis an introduction, and so it is my very good honor to meet you and you may call me V."
Agreed. however the domino scene was just superb.

Not so much my favorite scene but one that's stuck all these years would be Elias' last run from Platoon.

Kung Fu Hustle - first fight in pig stye alley when the three "masters" take on the axe gang. The music goes along with the scene perfectly and I always love the concept of the few vs the many

Some that come to mind:
The bit in Donnie Darko just after the tangent universe collapses with that track playing that is good but whose name I cannot remember.
There's loads in the Matrix Trilogy.
Advent Children, the Bahamut battle.
Leon, the scene where he dies.
Some games: Every cutscene in Ico. And most of the gameplay in between. SH1&3 collectively put most if not all horror movies to shame in parts. ----------

Funniest scene:
The Odd Couple - Felix(Jack Lemmon) & Oscar(Walter Matthau) are in a restaurant & Felix is attempting to clear his sinuses! FMMAAA!
Everytime I watch that scene I almost hurt myself due to my uncontrolled laughter!

yeah, of those mentioned I like those Blade Runner and Donnie Darko scenes.
Any scene with fps.Doug in it is usually good.
So many, one that comes to mind is the scene at the railway station in "Its a Wonderful Life", James Stewart postponed his ambition to go away to College, in order to mind the family business when his younger Brother got a sports scholarship; the family go to meet that Brother coming home from his studies, and JS is happy now its his turn to go to College - but the Brother brings his fiance whose Father has a great job for him. The camera close ups on Stewarts' face as he realises his Brother is going away again and his fate is never to get to College but to stay on in "smallville" and run the family business for life. Great acting, really poignant, simple little scene.

The Blues Brothers. Soooo many amazing moments but the intro to one of the coolest car chases ever wins it for me.
Jake: "You got us into to this parking lot, pal, so YOU get us out." Elwood: "You want outta this parking lot?... O.K."
Cut to Toys 'R Us cashier desk
Toys 'R Us Saleswoman: "Will there be anything else?" Toys 'R Us Customer: "Yes, do you have the Miss Piggy?"
Bluesmobile explodes through wall.
Genius.
